Ah, I was afraid that is what was meant there and that one could only
manage acls for windows systems/users via MS tools.
But as you can only have one [Profiles], and if you WILL have posix

User and Group management from Linux plus roaming profiles
If you did read correct.
You choose...
OR posix acls setup
OR windows acl setup.
Do not mix up the both!
My advice, use windows ACL setup for profiles, since "normaly" only windows computers use this, and for this, you can set the value:
acl_xattr:ignore system acls = yes
which makes the share even more windows acl compatible, and saves right hassle.

Samba-4.3.11 Roaming profiles on FreeBSD10.3
I am unable to get roaming profiles to work. I have turned on
debugging and I believe that I have narrowed down where in the log
file the problem is reported. However, I do not possess the knowledge
necessary to understand what is going on.
The situation is that assigning a new user the profile:
//DC/PROFILES/%USERNAME% does not produce anything on the DC's
filesystem. However, using the

restoring roaming profiles
I'm running Version 4.1.17-Debian as a DC on a Debian/Jessie AMD64 system.
After rebuilding a domain with slightly different settings, roaming
profiles stopped working.
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Implementing_roaming_profiles contains
a suggestion (see Troubleshooting roaming profiles) that gets them
working again - deleting the user subkey from

Windows 10 ADUC no properties window
Hi,
Anyone know why I don't get the properties window when I try to create a
new user or view a user's properties. Was working fine last week when I
created 3 or 4 test users. I'm using the same workstation I had installed
RSAT on and created the users with before. Any idea's?

Can't access DNS from RSAT
Good morning all!
I have two DCs, both running Samba 4.7.3. I have just joined the second DC
to the domain. The second DC is replicating AD objects perfectly, I
verified this by running "samba-tool drs showrepl" as well as using the
ADUC RSAT snapin and adding a user to one DC, then switching the DC that
ADUC connects to and verifying that the user was properly replicated.
The DNS

Howto for manage unix data with ADUC
Hi,
My tests on DC server and File/print server have some problem with account
management...
user access right on home share is very strange.
if we use ADUC and home share (not homes) for new user, it work.
All howto in samba's wiki ask administrator to use windows tools for
manage users and groups and share like home share
so... I know that is possible to add unix tab on aduc (already

idmap config ad
Trying to use the idmap config ad on a domain member. The AD is an
actual Windows server and when logged in the AD server running ADUC
the NIS domain field on the UNIX attributes tab only shows a dash and
is cannot be changed.
Domain member is RHEL 7.6 running Samba 4.8.3.

Can't access DNS from RSAT
I found this page https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12807 which
seemed to have someone experiencing the same issue I am.
I tried adding "allow dcerpc auth level connect:dnsserver = yes" to my
smb.conf, rebooted the server, but still I get the an access denied message
in windows.
However, what is logged in the log.samba files has changed since adding
this option to my smb.conf.

Extending the AD schema - Cannot see attributes in RSAT
Hy Guys,
I am trying to migrate to samba 4 and I need some help. So, I have a samba
running with samba 3 and LDAP. Today I use my samba for auth of my e-mail,
file server and several other applications. I use a WEB based LDAP
administration program called goSA.
I have Installed samba 4.8.4 on a test machine and create some users, the
problem is, to keep my email and all functionality that I

Samba 4 two DCs no matching UID/GID
Thanks for your answer and time you offer for me. That makes it a bit clearer.
I searched the web and found that rsat needs to have the nis tools installed. Does it create Unix uid/gid automatically then? Without rfc2307 information it makes no sense to me to have a *nix machine for file services and another one for backup purposes, when uid and gid are not same (due to preserve acls).
And for

samba4: Separation of DC from the File Server and Roaming Profiles
Marc, thank you very much!
Yes, I saw many tutorials, but many are showing how to set a DC and also the
shares on it self; what it is not recommended.
Others are showing how to manage Users with Windows tools.
