scary fill_share_mode_lock failed message
I'm still working on figuring out why some accesses to profile data are failing. We are running 3.3.2-0.33.fc11 (the latest release for FC11). I saw this in the log file stat_cache_lookup: lookup succeeded for name [USER/STARTMENU] -> [user/StartMenu] [2009/07/08 17:39:59, 3] locking/locking.c:fetch_share_mode_unlocked(857) fill_share_mode_lock failed I saw Volker had a fix

ExcludeProfileDirs and broken roaming profiles
Hi, since rolling out roaming profiles, some user profiles are growing very fast. I like to keep the profiles small and think about changing ExcludeProfileDirs default settings in Software\Microsoft\Windows NT \CurrentVersion\Winlogon by System Policies to remove caches, cookies, recent and other "useless" stuff. Which paths could be excluded without "killing" the benefits

Windows XP fails to load Desktop Profile on Samba 3 PDC
Hello, I'm currently trying to implement samba 3.0.14a as PDC in our office. I've allready managed to join the first trial workstations to the Domain. Now I have the following problem: I've created an Administrator-account for joining the machines and doing maintenance work. This account seems to have no problem to store its personal settings (Desktop, startmenu) on the PDC.

Win10 to Samba as NT- PDC needs 3 settings
Upgrading Win7-32 (connected to Samba as NT-PDC) to Win10 requires - disable HardenedUncPaths (MutualAuth & Integrity) - install NTVDM - enable LegacyConsole otherwise the logon-script in Netlogon does not run, even if samba.cnf contains "server max level = NT1" Is Samba as NT-PDC supposed to handle HardenedUncPaths? Did I miss that I should have enabled that somehow in smb.conf?

[PATCH] HDT: Fix cursor on exit from Menu Mode
From: Gene Cumm <gene.cumm at gmail.com> CMenu: Fix cursor on exit from showmenus() Signed-off-by: Gene Cumm <gene.cumm at gmail.com> This fixes the issue in hdt.c32 that Kent Robotti noticed where exiting directly from Menu Mode caused the cursor to not be displayed. This same issue also affects com32/cmenu/simple.c32 and probably others using showmenus(). --- diff --git

add|delete user / group / machine ... scripts, is the "API" somewhere documented?
Hi folks, are there any more detailed docs about those scripts? I have some annoying issues there and I can't find anything about that in the docs. If using usrmgr.exe is it possible to tweak the "add user script" that the full name of a user is stored too, like if I add the user manually with adduser (debian) or useradd -c "Full Name" -m username on (most?) other

Win10 to Samba as NT- PDC needs 3 settings
Hello Claus, I have an openSUSE with Samba 4.4.4-3.1-3676 as PDC. There is no AD running. We use roaming profiles. I upgraded 11 Machines to Windows 10 having lot's of trouble with the Startmenu and the Win10-Apps. I can confirm the logon-script isn't executed since the Windows-Upgrade. Nobody - even Microsoft - could ever answer my questions to have a working startmenu with Windows 10.

Samba 3.0b3 PDC - XP user descriptions
Hi all. I have (another) little question about XP and Samba 3.0b3 acting as PDC. When I press CTRL+ALT+DEL in my XP Client I see the message: ",,, has started session as BOOGERSOFT\Boogerman" (BOOGERSOFT is my domain, and Boogerman is my username). I also see the ",,," in the top of XP's start menu (when using XP's startmenu instead of the "classic" start

xapian-compact seg faulting & Re: Error msg xapian-compact: The revision being read has been discarded - you should call Xapian::Database::reopen() and retry the operation
I am fairly confident that these issues are related to killing the scriptindex process ungracefully causing blocks that were queued for writing to disk to not get written. I mention to send you the file because it could be that you would see almost immediately with the situation is. Thanks > ----- Original Message ----- > From: oscaruser@programmer.net > To:

AW: Outlook 2002 and roaming profiles
Hello, This is the way for the normal .pst file where outlook stores ist information about the normal folders. I had moved this pst to my homedrive and it works fine. The problem is my IMAP account. Installer says I've run out of disc space
Hi, I'm trying to install a MUD client on my macbook pro with wine. It's called portal, you can get it here: http://www.gameaxle.com/portal_full.html I used my windows computer to make the file self-extract, then I copied the folder that had setup.exe inside it to my macbook pro desktop. I then double-clicked setup.exe and it opened with wine. I was able to get through the install, when
