As I run on an armv7 with no battery rtc, I have to get time sync going before doing practically anything. It much depends on how your system resolves before local DNS is running.

AD order of installation
Unless you are specifying by IP, NTP isn't going to resolve with e.g. 0.pool.ntp.org if you don't have DNS running. Personal Experience. If you're using Samba's builtin DNS (I don't), then seems to me NTP should be last on your list. Of course, ntp can temporarily resolve using /etc/resolv.conf until you get your DNS running. My issue was mostly an order of startup versus

Redirected Folders not working for Desktop
Well, I've just added another directory to not make the redirected folders a the root. And, Favorites and Documents do work. Goog suggestion to check the Windows event viewer. I'll do that and get back with what I find. Thanks, --Mark -----Original Message----- > To: samba at lists.samba.org > From: James <lingpanda101 at gmail.com> > Date: Tue, 1 Sep 2015 08:14:06 -0400

Redirected Folders not working for Desktop
James, First, I mis-spoke (typed?) in my previous message. Yes, my redirected folders are set up as \\mail.hprs.local\Users\%username%, just like you say. (Note, I've already been chastized about the .local thing -- too late). I did examine the event logs. For Favorites, Document, Photos, etc. I have Event 501 messages which say, "Successfully applied policy and redirected folder

Did you "hide" the share (browseable = no) Looks ok to me, what i see be low. And what i supsected. Event id 502. Do you see: Error details: “This security ID may not be assigned as the owner of this object.”. If so, or correct the rights, or set gpo. Or read throug this side, and fix your rights setup.

Fwd: Good installation documentation on samba4?
I figured out the resolv.conf bit fidgeting around. Thanks for the tip anyway. Regarding the krb5.conf I have never got it working with the example files. I have always added at least a "kdc = samdom.example.com" to the lines, but my file is actually still a bit more complex(and possibly redundant). Regarding the troubleshooting page, it is *far* from complete. At the very least, the

deSolve question
Dear All, I like to simulate a physiologically based pharmacokinetics model using R but am having a problem with the daspk routine. The same problem has been implemented in Berkeley madonna and Winbugs so that I know that it is working. However, with daspk it is not, and the numbers are everywhere! Please see the following and let me know if I am missing something... Thanks a lot in advance,

pfSense DHCP integration with Samba AD DDNS
Hi Rowland, I don't want to to run an AD DC on firewall device, barely DHCP and maybe DNS. What you have pointed me to is similar to what I have in place: https://blog.michael.kuron-germany.de/2011/02/isc-dhcpd-dynamic-dns-updates-against-secure-microsoft-dns/ and which is working fine. NOW I want to switch DHCP from isc-dhcp-server 4.2.2 on Debian to DHCP on pfSense firewall (based on

simple recommendations
I would set up your server as a Samba AD and use the directory. Give each user a username and password on the server that they will authenticate to the server with and when they connect the permissions will act as you are expecting. Joining the machines to the domain is not necessary; it simply integrates the workstation with the server so that the user doesn’t have to enter the credentials

SELinux and samba/winbind w/ADS on RHEL 4.6
SELinux appears to be interfering with winbind's functionality. I have the lastest policy package installed: selinux-policy-targeted-1.17.30-2.149 which allegedly solves this problem according to the RedHat knowledge base, but clearly does not. I have to turn off SELinux by using setenforce 0 (permissive) to get winbind to work at all, and based on what I see in the log files,

Howto install Centos6/7 Comcast WA/OR
Has anyone managed to install a Centos6 or Centos7 in Washington or Orgegon, or anywhere else that Comcast has deployed the IPV6to4 routers. The router in question is a Xfinity DCP3939 Router with Wireless, and I'm trying to get a Centos system working behind that router (with a wired connection), and enable SSH access from outside. Does one have to enable both IPV6 and IPV4? Can I

An extended Hodgkin-Huxley model that doesn't want to work.
Hi All I have been struggling with this model for some time now and I just can't get it to work correctly. The messages I get when running the code is: DLSODA- Warning..Internal T (=R1) and H (=R2) are such that in the machine, T + H = T on the next step (H = step size). Solver will continue anyway. In above message, R = [1] 0 0 DINTDY- T (=R1) illegal In above message, R = [1]

net ads info: failed to get server's current time
Hi all, We're having issues with Samba at work. I've searched a bit and the only thing that have caught my eye is this: when I run the 'net ads info' command on our DC --we have a Debian on which samba4 is installed and configured as a AD DC-- I have the message "Failed to get server's current time!", and "Server time: Thu, 01 Jan 1970 01:00:00 CET". Fwd: Good installation documentation on samba4?
Hello, I am looking for good installation instructions for an active directory domain controller installation of samba4. The only source I have reliably found is https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setup_a_Samba_Active_Directory_Domain_Controller which is unfortunately both incomplete in certain sections and incorrect in others. A good example of incomplete information is the guide on the name
