Joining 4.2.2 Samba client to Samba3 PDC
Hi, Not sure of the etiquette of this, so apologies if this is frowned upon, but a couple of months ago, this[1] question was asked. I'm trying to join a Samba 4.2.2 server to a Samba 3.4.7 PDC (e.g. Think NT4, not AD), which is also our OpenLDAP principal server. I'm failing because, although my "net rpc join" command seems to succeed, and the host entry is added to the

Joining 4.2.2 Samba client to Samba3 PDC
Just a pointer.. try with settings like : client lanman auth = yes client NTLMv2 auth = no client plaintext auth = yes i dont know the exact setting are which you need, but look in the man of smb.conf man smb.conf search for NT4, you see more settings. classic upgrade sort of succeeds but really fails - Advice?
Hi, I am stuck in a bad place and I'm not sure where to go next. I'd sure appreciate some advice or direct help in troubleshooting this problem. If I can provide additional information I'd be happy to send it along privately. Some logs are very large - like the debuglevel 10 classicupgrade output is about 160MB. But there is Dropbox, right? I've included what I could think of

Classic upgrade and member servers
All, I'm migrating a samba3 domain to a new samba4 AD implementation. The samba3 domain is at the top level corp.com, and after having read the naming FAQ we decided to create ad.corp.com for Samba4. We're doing a test migration and so far things are going well. Part of test is migration of old samba servers, which involves joining them to AD, which creates a DNS record under

samba-tool classic upgrade - Next rid problem
Hi there, I am trying to upgrade my old Samba3 (with LDAP backend) to Samba 4. I am doing this on a test VM for now as a proof of concept. When running this command: /usr/local/samba/bin/samba-tool domain classicupgrade --dbdir=/home/administrator/samba3/ --use-xattrs=yes --realm=internal.com /home/administrator/samba3/smb.conf I get this: Reading smb.conf Provisioning Exporting account

You don't have to rename per se. You can rejoin to AD with "ad.corp.com" as your hostname (and entry in /etc/hosts, which you will need) but if your member servers are on the same IP and your original DNS preserves your A records you'll still be able to connect via <servername>.corp.com after a rejoin in ADS mode. We did it two months ago and didn't have to change

can't connect to a samba share with Windows XP
Hi all, I am having problems with using XP Pro to connect to a samba share. All I get from XP are repated dialogs asking for my username and password. My linux box has been joined to the local windows domain. I am using encrypted passwords and the security level is set to user. If I set the log level to 10 I can see that LM and NT4 MD password checks failed on the challenge returned by the XP
