Redirected Folders not working for Desktop
Well, I've just added another directory to not make the redirected folders a the root. And, Favorites and Documents do work. Goog suggestion to check the Windows event viewer. I'll do that and get back with what I find. Thanks, --Mark -----Original Message----- > To: samba at lists.samba.org > From: James <lingpanda101 at gmail.com> > Date: Tue, 1 Sep 2015 08:14:06 -0400

Redirected Folders not working for Desktop
James, First, I mis-spoke (typed?) in my previous message. Yes, my redirected folders are set up as \\mail.hprs.local\Users\%username%, just like you say. (Note, I've already been chastized about the .local thing -- too late). I did examine the event logs. For Favorites, Document, Photos, etc. I have Event 501 messages which say, "Successfully applied policy and redirected folder

Did you "hide" the share (browseable = no) Looks ok to me, what i see be low. And what i supsected. Event id 502. Do you see: Error details: “This security ID may not be assigned as the owner of this object.”. If so, or correct the rights, or set gpo. Or read throug this side, and fix your rights setup.

Samba4 DC/AD documents created in redirected folders with bogus UID
My up-front apologies if this topic has been covered. This is my first time using this list and I don't know how to search for existing topics yet ... I installed Samba4 on Linux Slackware 64 version 14.1 about 6 months ago. I set up redirected folders for the Windows 7 Workstation users. All worked fine until recently. Now, when several of the users create documents and folders on their

Samba4 DC/AD documents created in redirected folders with bogus UID
I just noticed that my fresh install of Samba 4.2.3 has the same behaviour. I have a share (\\samba\it_share)) and some users when creating files have the UID as 3000000 and some have their correct UIDs. Share permissons are being controlled by Windows ACLs. this looks normal to me. Did you enable to policy to not check for owner of the folders? and can you show me the smb.conf share setting of this share. Are some Group Policies broken?
Not quite 4 years ago I replaced our office SBS 2008 server with Samba4. I added Group Policies one of which was for Redirected Folders. I created a new GPO, "HPRS Groups" and did Edit > User Configuration > Policies > Windows Settings > Folder Redirection > right-click on Documents > Properties > Target = Settings Basic - Redirect everyone's folder to the same

Are some Group Policies broken?
Louis - thanks for this response. Unbeknownst to me my mail filter was not working and I've seen your message only today. I'm still struggling with this problem and have not found any answers yet. I'm interested in trying your solution, but need a bit of clarification. You wrote: > When i remove the user folder, and reappy it again from RSAT, but now with the UID/GID set, >

Admin UID changed with upgrade to 4.8.2
Imo, this is a left over of an old bug, just remove the file Registry.po imo, i'll bet its never used. The computer looks for Registry.pol not Registry.po. > -rwxrwx--- 1 root users 958 2014-09-13 04:01 Registry.po* > -rwxrwx--- 1 3000000 users 958 2014-09-13 04:01 Registry.pol* Look at the date 2014, and i do remember something about this. But... What does getfacl say about

Need IP on failed logins in logfile
I am running Samba Version 4.1.23 as an AD/DC on Linux Slackware64 14.1. I am logging samba messages to /var/log/samba/log.samba with logging set to the following in smb.conf: log level = 2 passdb:5 auth:10 winbind:2 lanman:10 I have a script that scans this logfile for message like the following: auth_check_password_recv: sam_ignoredomain authentication for user [HPRS\thisuser] FAILED with

I used to also get related log messages of the form: auth_check_password_send: Checking password for unmapped user [HPRS]\[mark]@[ROVER] auth_check_password_send: mapped user is: [HPRS]\[mark]@[ROVER] but now all I get is the auth_check_password_recv in the log. Perhaps the change is due to an upgrade to Samba, or perhaps a change I made to my smb.conf log options? (see log config in my

sernet documentation
I've been using bind9 and DHCP on Samba 4.1.0 thru 4.1.17 and Slackware 64 14.1 for many months now in a production environment and it works just fine. There are a few tweaks here and there to get bind/dhcp to play nicely with Samba ... Note, conf file locations are Slackware, but you'll know where the same thing goes in your distro. In the examples below, my Domain IP range is
