Just a question. winbind_krb5_locator usage
Hi Rowland, /var/run/samba/smb_krb5 does not exist. However /var/cache/samba/smb_krb5 exists, there is a file named "krb5.conf.INTRANET". Contents: [libdefaults] default_realm = INTRANET.VIPCO.DE default_tgs_enctypes = aes256-cts-hmac-sha1-96 aes128-cts-hmac-sha1-96 RC4-HMAC DES-CBC-CRC DES-CBC-MD5 default_tkt_enctypes = aes256-cts-hmac-sha1-96

Cannot change directory permissions
Hi Rowland, yes I do have two separate config files for smbd/nmbd and winbindd. You can tell winbindd to load a separate config file via the "-s" command line switch. Therefore I set "WINBINDD_EXTRA_OPTS" in "/etc/default/sernet-samba" to "-s /etc/samba/winbindd.conf". The "cached_login" option for pam is also set and working. The problem was

Samba 4.51 Solaris 11 AD client
Solaris 11 include samba 3.6.25. I compiled samba 4.5.1 using GCC 4.8 and gmake. Had set following env variables to make sure krb5.conf was found # CPLUS_INCLUDE_PATH=/usr/include:/usr/include/kerberosv5/ # C_INCLUDE_PATH=/usr/include:/usr/include/kerberosv5/ After setting "client ldap sasl wrapping = plain" I was able to join to a Windows 2008 domain with samba 4.

ads_sasl_spnego_krb5_bind failed: Program lacks supportfor encryption type [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]
Alex, I've been a victim of this since Day 1. After a lot of reading and emailing, it comes down to this. libkrb5-3 version 1.8x by default disallows DES encryption. /etc/krb5.conf can be changed to allow weak encryption, but as it relates to Samba, is only effective in letting the system join the domain. For it's internal functioning, winbind uses an autogenerated krb5.conf that

Cannot change directory permissions
Hi Rowland, sorry, I hit the wrong reply button in the last answer. So there is no other way than to use Windows ACLs? I was told with our old systems (Samba 3 in non-domain mode) the behaviour I want to achieve was possible when only using ugo. Greetings, Felix -----Ursprüngliche Nachricht----- Von: samba [mailto:samba-bounces at lists.samba.org] Im Auftrag von Rowland Penny Gesendet:

winbindd hangs and makes the system unuseable when DC is offline
Hello, I am using winbindd to map users via the idmap_ad backend from a Samba 4.2.2 AD to another machine in the network. Everything works fine unless I shutdown the DC. I would expect winbindd to realize the DC is offline and shutdown or something, however instead of realizing something is wrong It goes into some kind of reconnection loop and makes the whole system unuseable. As soon as I kill

No, your realm name is "jasondomain.jj" and it would seem that your domain name is "jasondomaini", the domain name can also be known as the 'workgroup' name. Set smb.conf to match this: [global] workgroup =

Hi Rowland, I had to split smbd and winbindd config to work around some bugs in credentials offline caching. I have a separate winbindd.conf, it looks like this: [global] ### Network ### netbios name = Fileserver server string = Fileserver (%h V:%v) ### ad member ### workgroup = INTRANET realm = INTRANET.MYCOMPANY.DE security = ADS kerberos method = secrets and
