Extended attributes not working on mac
as i can see from the log files it is reading 60 bytes from the extended attributes but not from any other than DosStream.AFP_AfpInfo. All of the .com.apple.* attributes, especially DosStream.com.apple.metadata:_kMDItemUserTags are missing when listing the directory. And again - it tries to access a dotbar file which cannot exist with these settings. BTW, accessing kMDItemFinderComment works

Extended attributes not working on mac
I did a fresh install of ubuntu right now and changed the configuration as you proposed, now there it?s showing the tag for about one second but it?s disappearing afterwards. The attr binary shows the following output (seems to be written again in the extended attributes, but finder can?t read it): attr -l rwar Attribute "DOSATTRIB" has a 32 byte value for rwar Attribute

Capistrano: update instead of checkout?
Hello, Just started to use Capistrano for deployment and everything works beautifully and as advertised. Thanks Jamis for this great piece of software. However, in my case, the deploy task takes quite some time since my SVN repository resides on a different continent than my app/db server and I''ve frozen all the rails code in the vendor dir and checked in. All in all my app sums up to

XP not obeying Samba file perms
Hi List, I have an unusual problem concerning the Windows XP "Rotate" image explorer shell extension. I have a share called "Archives" defined with a number of sub-directories. Whilst I have read/write permission to all directories, I am unable to use the Windows XP "Rotate Clockwise" or "Rotate Counter Clockwise" image command on JPG's contained

why does --size-only not detect change only is size (but also time)?
Hi, I'm wondering why when I use --size-only on the same file, except the modification time, rsync transfers the modification time? I was under the impression that --size-only caused rsync to transfer files based upon differences in the size of the file. For example: #cp Untitled.pdf Untitled-2.pdf #touch Untitled.pdf #rsync -ani --size-only Untitled.pdf Untitled-2.pdf .f..t......

widelinks_warning - but unix extensions *are* off
Sure, but did you even try my advice.. ?? So again.. from smb.conf unix extensions (G) allow insecure wide links (G) wide links (S) follow symlinks (S) G = Global S = Share So here you are lazy ... ( fill the dots..) ;-) Read below .... from : man smb.conf In normal operation the option wide links which allows the server to follow symlinks outside of a share path is automatically

After reconnecting to the share the comments are gone away. So the data was just in the cache on my mac before. I?ll install samba on a new debian distro tomorrow. Let?s see if the problem persists. data import (on macintosh)
I think the problem is the way files are named on the Macintosh. On the Mac, the file separator character, which is "/" on unix and "\" on dos/windows, is ":". Also, the root directory doesn't start with the separator character, but instead just starts with the volume name, which is the name of the hard disk icon on your desktop, so if your file is in the top

OS X Clients Can't Create Sub-Directories
I'm running samba on a local linux server, with a bunch of shares. Over the last several years, this has worked perfectly in our heterogenous network of OS X and Windows. All my windows clients still work perfectly - my users can mount the samba shares and create, rename, move etc files and folders. However, recently (starting yesterday) my OS X clients are unable to rename any sub

widelinks_warning - but unix extensions *are* off
Hi all Since we changed our installation from Samba 3.x to 4.x (currently 4.2.5 on Solaris 11.1), we repeatedly encounter the following 'widelinks_warning', originating from Windows Server 2012 R2 RDS clients: [2015/10/29 15:50:38.837702, 0] ../source3/param/loadparm.c:4306(widelinks_warning) Share 'data' has wide links and unix extensions enabled. How to create a chromosome location map by locus ID
Hi, I'm trying to make a chromosomal map in R by using the locus. I have a list of genes and their locus, and I want to visualise that so you can see if there are multiple genes on a specific place on a chromosome. A example of what I more or less want is below: http://www.nabble.com/file/p21474206/untitled.JPG untitled.JPG The genes and locus are here:

Permission Denied when "all" bits not set to r/w
Hello, I'm having trouble with permissions on Samba 3.0.21. It almost seems that the "all" bits are the only ones that Samba is obeying. For instance, I created this file remotely over a samba share: brandon.dimcheff@unity ~/untitled folder $ ls -als total 17 0 drwx--S--- 3 brandon.dimcheff westpole 160 Jul 3 15:51 . 1 drwx------ 12 brandon.dimcheff westpole 816 Jul 3
