A request for your input.
Hello My name is Lara Thynne and I am a PhD candidate at Deakin University Australia. I am currently researching the boundary between work and leisure activities directly related to the open source community and open source program development. As part of this I am running a survey at the following address. https://dcarf.deakin.edu.au/surveys/oss/ The survey is completely confidential and

Assessing the fit of a nonlinear model to a new dataset
Hi all, I am attempting to apply a nonlinear model developed using nls to a new dataset and assess the fit of that model. At the moment, I am using the fitted model from my fit dataset as the starting point for an nls fit for my test dataset (see below). I would like to be able to view the t-statistic and p-values for each of the iterations using the trace function, but have not yet worked out

Permission problems with samba 2.2.x
Hello, Sometimes I have to create and use Navision Databases on samba shares - this works with samba 2.0.x but does not with samba 2.2.x (tried 2.2.3a and 2.2.4). The following tests were done with a acl enabeled samba and an acl aware kernel/filesystem, but I also have done these tests with acl not compiled into samba on an host without acl in the kernel - same result, does not work, same

Roamin Profile problem / filedate issue
Guys, I've identified a problem "I think" Config: Samba 2.2.8a on Linux and Solaris WinXP SP1 and Win2kSP4 workstations We have a problem here, when logging out and using roaming profiles on a samba host take significantly longer than logging out when the profile is stored on a Win2k server. Looking closely I've discovered the following. On each logout, numerous files, that

File time / date issues with Samba 2.08
Guys, we have been tracking down a problem with slow saving of profiles on logout. Environment: A number of Linux front end servers running Samba 2.08, nfs mounting from a Solaris 9 server. WinXP/2k users use shares from the linux boxes which nfs mount the share from the sun box. Problem: On logout the time taken to logout is extremely long. Issue: On closer examination, we have noticed

mac client and inherited permissions
Hi everyone, We are a longtime samba/win desktop shop but are getting more Macs. Samba sernet rpms 3.3.9 on CentOS 5.4 test box (started to test 3.43 but will wait) and I confirmed a problem I have been having in production. Server is ADS member with ldap stored idmap. Help_urgent_how to calculate mean and sd in biomod 2
Ol?, Please keep this in the list, I'm cc-ing r-help at r-project.org. And yes, I am Portuguese but R-Help is a mailing list in the English language. As for your new question, I believe that you should start a new thread. This is completely different from the question on computing mean and sd. Ask a new question. Font "arial" is a Microsoft font and as far as I know is not

kerberos 5 support
Hi I'd also like to express interest in Simon's kerb 5 patches being integrated into the openssh distribution. Are there currently any plans for this to happen and if so, what's the expected time frame? Ben. VisualFoxPro program problem
I have a program in visual foxpro9. Start and work are normal. But the program has a function of reporting(problem). Reports must appear on the screen. When I start the "generate report" program accesses the database, generates a report, but does not show it on screen. Instead of the report, I see an error message. "Error loading printer driver". How to display reports on

adding in missing values in a sequence
Hi, I have a data frame with two columns of data, one an indexing column and the other a data column. My issue is, this data frame is incomplete and there are missing lines. I want to know how I can find and add data into these missing lines. See example below ## Example data data <- data.frame(index=c(1:4,6:10), data=c (1.5,4.3,5.6,6.7,7.1,12.5,14.5,16.8,3.4)) index data 1 1

randomForest - what is a 'good' pseudo r-squared?
Hi all I have been trying to use the randomForest package to model insect species abundance in different habitats and identify the key variables (landscape/climate etc) in determining abundance, which has all worked fine and I get nice variable importance plots etc. Many thanks to everyone on this help forum who has given tips/advice along the way. But the percentage variance explained /pseudo r

ANCOVA/glm missing/ignored interaction combinations
Hi I am using R version 2.7.2. on a windows XP OS and have a question concerning an analysis of covariance with count data I am trying to do, I will give details of a scaled down version of the analysis (as I have more covariates and need to take account of over-dispersion etc etc) but as I am sure it is only a simple problem but I just can't see how to fix it. I have a data set with count

.Random.seed resetting (PR#656)
Full_Name: Lara Jamieson Version: 1.1.1 OS: Linux Submission from: (NULL) (131.111.20.203) I've checked for other reports on this and can't find anything. It seems that the .Random.seed isn't updated properly after using rm(.Random.seed). Mu understanding from the help file indicates that a new 'random' seed will be generated. It appears that sometimes the old one is just

R Coders - Programmers
I'm hoping the members can guide me to someone looking for coding work in R. I'm running an on-line survey service bureau where we do 360-feedback (data is collected about a person's leadership/work behaviors from those all-around him/her 360-degrees). We've built the front end admin section in php and the survey builder is PHPSurveyor. I'm thinking R might be a good choice for

Error with regsubset in leaps package - vcov and all.best option (plus calculating VIFs for subsets)
Hi all I am hoping this is just a minor problem, I am trying to implement a best subsets regression procedure on some ecological datasets using the regsubsets function in the leaps package. The dataset contains 43 predictor variables plus the response (logcount) all in a dataframe called environment. I am implementing it as follows: library(leaps)
