Problems to authenticate Ubuntu 14 on Samba4
Hi,
I have saw many tutorials to ingress Ubuntu 14 in the Samba4 domain, but
none worked properly. I put the Ubuntu workstation in the Domain, but when
I try to login, appear the following messenge:
"your password will be expire in 42 days "
and does not permit the authentication.
How can I configure correctly Ubuntu 14 workstation to authenticate in the
Samba 4 domain?
Thanks

Problem with Samba 4 as Member Server
I have setup samba 4 as File Server Member Server, But when the users, even
logged in the domain, click on the share, a box appears asking for

The member server is in the domain, it see the users and groups (wbinfo –u

After Update to 4.2, Samba is unusuable as member server / No user and goup resolution
Hello everybody,
I've bin running Samba as a AD member server for ages (Debian stable).
After the last update to 4.2, I just can't get it to work.
Symptoms: unable to map AD user / groups.
After two days of successlessly fiddling (and moving all data to another
server with still Samba 3.6, which I will definitely NOT update at the
moment), I decided to purge my Installation and start

AD Auth Trusted Domain issues
I have been killing myself on this issue over the last 2 weeks. I have
setup pam AD authentication using winbind on our companies email
servers. That part is currently working. I have been trying to add an
existing "Trusted" child domain and allow authentication from that
domain as well. I am part of the way there, but not quite to the
functional point as of yet. Our primary domain

problem authenticating users to Active Directory after Ubuntu 12.04 -> 14.04 upgrade
To be safe, I performed a clean installation of Ubuntu 14.04 to make
sure the upgrade process wasn't breaking things. I am able to join a
domain, however it will always tell me invalid password when trying to
log in with a domain account. I guess that the major change was going
from Samba3 to Samba4 with these versions. I don't see anything crazy
in the samba logs. Am I missing

winbind backends ad and rfc2307 both with errors...
Hello,
I just set up a samba server (version 2:4.1.13+dfsg-4) on Debian 7.7,
being a member server of a Win2k8-Domain (before that, that server was
an old SuSE (10.4)-Samba with own user-management (standalone-server).
I would like to use winbind with the idmap backend "ad" or "rfc2307"
instead.
When using rfc2307 (like in my conf specified), I can do successfully:

URGENT winbind - New DOMAIN but old DOMAIN not CHANGING - Resent
Hi,
We just imported (moved) all our staff from the old w2k domain to the
new w2k3 domain. Say their accounts and passwords
From STAFF domain to say NEW. Seems winbind is keeping the old domain
users. This server was serving the STAFF domain w/o problems before
users were migrated.
Domain is in 2000 native mode.
I'm using winbind for squid auth on Mandrake linux 10.0

Samba 4.1.6-Ubuntu on 14.04 domain join seems successful with caveats, testjoin reports no logon servers...
Greetings,
Long-time but very occasional samba user here with a new challenge (well
for me at least).
The basics are that on the domain join, the computer account gets created
but throws the dns error which based on my searching seems non-fatal.
wbinfo -t gives me a succeeded, wbinfo -a klm.com\\me --ntlmv2 works fine
but yet the net ads testjoin fails. Logs on the domain controller show

inconsistent DNS information, windows domain member issues..
I joined a Windows 10 Pro system to my (still experimental) domain. The
windows system actually hosts DC2 as a VM, and another Windows (Server 2008
R2) at another location hosts DC1 also as a VM. The two locations are
connected via a VPN, both systems run only when needed. The windows system
does not directly use DC2 for DNS but instead talks to a DNS resolver that
delegates the samba Domain to

smbclient broken after update
Since a bit more than a year I run a Samba4 AD server on a Debian
testing box. During that period I did update and dist-update the
box about twice a week, and also did update and recompile Sambe,
i.e. Samba and Debian Jessie are on their latest stage. I use Bind
9.9.3 as name server, which works absolutely smooth.
But two days ago something got broken, and I am totally clueless,

Hi Louis,
Thanks for the reply. Upon checking the URL you sent, I'm not finding
which stanzas you're referring to as being samba3 - my smb.conf looks
remarkably similar to the sample I see there. Could you perhaps be more
specific?
Thanks,
