Next Problem: windows 10 as samba domain member
Hi ... After having a tough fight the last days with migrating from samba 3.6 to 4.2.2 in one network segment (see my previous posts) I am facing my next problem: Domain logons with windows 10 pro. I got windows 10 pro build 10159 running in a vm. I added the 2 well known registry changes I always add to windows 7 also to windows 10. So far so good. I joined the machine to my samba 4.2.2

Windows 8 Pro no domain logon possible
Hi.... Some days ago I installed windows 8 pro from MSDN on one of my machines. I got a serious problem with it. I cannot logon as domain user. I first tried joining my domain from win8 with an unchanged win8 installation. This did fail. Afterwards I applied the usual windows 7 registry patches to allow a samba domain join and rebooted. Afterwards I could join my domain with no trouble. I

Browsing shares of a server
With the removal of SMB1 (by default) and everywhere (e.g. Windows), I noticed that when I open up a computer (\\computer-name) I can see the shares that I have access to... that is, from a Windows Explorer (in my case Win10).? Is there any way to get something like this working using smbclient without SMB1? All this is without (AFAIK) enabling the Function Discovery stuff.? How does Windows

Newby questions about using samba
Yes, I created the unix user and a Samba user as instructed in the Wiki. According to the package manager, my Samba version is 4.7.6.? Would you say upgrading is still in order? The test I mentioned was entirely using Linux machines.? I first tried using smbclient from the Linux server machine (I'm not sure if this would actually work, but it seems like it should) and I also tried it

Suddenly Windows clients can't join Samba+ldap PDC anymore
Hi, i've tried adding server max protocol = NT1 into /etc/samba/smb.conf and restarting smbd and nmbd services but it didn't do the trick. I feel like Windows clients are not able to resolve SRV1 into the PDC and so they can't event try to join the domain. But, really, i've not clue how to find an answer... Suppose to have a Win7 and a Win10 machine, both NOT joined to a domain. Suppose to have a share, with guest access enabled, where only readonly access are needed. Suppose also

Windows 10 with Samba PDC and Roaming profiles
Hello, I'm using an openSUSE server with Samba Version 4.1.18-3.33.2-3407 and Windows 7 Professional clients for years without problems. Now I have 5 PC with a freshly installed Windows 10 Professional on it. On the Windows 10 machines I only changed the two registry keys[1] and set up the switch "max protocol = nt1" in "/etc/samba/smb.conf" on the server side. I could
