Samba 4 - disabling SSLv3 to mitigate POODLE effects
Thanks Kelvin
I'm a bit confised tho, is this patch already avaiable? if yes, what is the
parameter that disable ssl into the smb.conf? Maybe the guys from
Enterprise samba have already included the patch into their releases so
it's just a maatter of enabling the flag.
I'm using sernet-samba-4.2.2
Thanks!

Samba 4 - disabling SSLv3 to mitigate POODLE effects
Arg... that's a problem now..
we are not allowed to complie third party software in our dev enviroment,
we are only allowed to use packages (that's why we use sernet-samba, which
in fairness is great!).
any plan to release a proper patch?

Samba 4 - disabling SSLv3 to mitigate POODLE effects
No patch available now. Download the source code and modified the source
code yourself, and then compile it.

Samba 4 , ful list of LDAP-style attributes
sorry guys , I think I didn't explain well.
basically I have a samba 4 domain (created by upgrading+migrating a samba 3
PDC). For every new user that we add to this domain I need to save some
additional info which are very specific for our company/department, but the
problem is that I cannot create custom attributes into the Samba4 ldap
back-end. For this reason I was thinking to use some

I am going to create few scripts that uses the ldapmodify in order to
populate and samba4 Domain, I was wondering , what is the full list of
attributes that a samba 4 domain supports?

Hello Mario ,
what if you try these :
dcerpc endpoint servers = epmapper, wkssvc, rpcecho, samr, netlogon, lsarpc, spoolss, drsuapi, dssetup, unixinfo, browser, eventlog6, backupkey, dnsserver, remote, winreg, srvsvc
auth methods = sam, winbind, ntdomain, ntdomain:winbind
!! these are only for helping in debugging and should not be used in production.

I don't think you understand this at all :-)

Self service User Password Change - Samba4
Good Day all
I have successfully upgraded samba 3 to samb4 in our test lab, migrating
from old hardware with Ubuntu 10 to a new machine with Ubuntu 14.4 , after
a bit of fight all went ok :) .
I have now a specific request. Basically we would like to give to the
Domain Users the possibility to change their password in a self service
fashion, possibly through accessing a web page .
I know there

Thanks Sven, good Idea
let's see if i am getting this right:
1) use MS ADSI editor to add few more attributes to the "users" class
2) use ldapmodify from my ubuntu server to populate those attributes
would that work?

I have some more findings about this
it looks like getent does not get the right information from the Domain
Controller, in fact the domain user groups shows with NO member users:
getent group | grep "domain users"
domain users:x:10000:
root at seadog:~#
Now funny thing is that other folders for wwhich getent retrieves the users
correctlly are mounted fine . any idea why I don t see

# Global parameters
[global]
workgroup = CCDC
realm = CCDC.LAN
netbios name = CCDC-SAMBA4
server role = active directory domain controller
idmap_ldb:use rfc2307 = yes
dns forwarder = 9.0.138.50
auth methods = sam,

After the classicupgrade from samba3 to sernet-samba-4.2.1 , users are not able to remote desktop anymore
Good Day All
I have a current working configuration of sernet-samba-4.2.1, created by
upgrading from a samba3 PDC using the classic upgrade.
Now, I have added a windows 2008 machine to the domain and I'm using the AD
snap in tools in order to browse the domain.
I can see all the users and groups and they have been imported correctly.
However I am able to remote desktop to the domain

well, I have configured the kdc client on the file server, joined the
domain using net ads join and it worked fine, again getnet group , getnet
passwd , wbinfo -u they all works perfectlly fine
I am also able to browse the shares from any windows machine joined to the
CCDC domain, but I am still not able to do ANY mount.cifs, not even form
linux boxes joined to the domain :-/
I have no idea
