Migration Samba3 -> Samba4: Accessing domain member server is not working
Hi ... When trying to migrate from samba3 to samba 4.2.2 I am facing a severe problem that bugs me for hours now. I cannot get a samba 4.2.2 fileserver to work with a samba 4.2.2 PDC as a domain member. My scenario: Samba 3 network. PDC and fileserver where Samba 3.6.25. LDAP backend. We can't move to AD right now so I wanted to move to the current 4.2.2 at least to do this step but to

DNS troubles while manual upgrading Samba3 to Samba4?
Hi, guys. I have DC on Samba 3.6. working for years so far. Now it`s time to go forward, as it can`t provide enough security and flexibility. But reading Wiki on classicupgrade I see that there could be hell of problems, and anyway I`m bit scared of doing that at once. Even though I have more than 200 boxes I`d rather prefer to set up Samba 4 AD DC on separate server, set up new domain and

Next Problem: windows 10 as samba domain member
Hi ... After having a tough fight the last days with migrating from samba 3.6 to 4.2.2 in one network segment (see my previous posts) I am facing my next problem: Domain logons with windows 10 pro. I got windows 10 pro build 10159 running in a vm. I added the 2 well known registry changes I always add to windows 7 also to windows 10. So far so good. I joined the machine to my samba 4.2.2

Joining Samba4 Member to Samba3 Domain
Before I start beating my head against the wall, is there a howto someplace for joining a Samba4 member or BDC to a samba3 domain? Am I going about this all wrong? I most likely will update the PDC to samba 4 next summer due to the amount of automation we have to modify that leverages OpenLDAP. The LDAP server that comes with Samba4 seems kinda limited by comparison. In the meantime, cannot

Active Record: Can it auto-create database tables for you?
Hi, Just get started with Rails and I''m trying to read ahead and find out whether Active Record supports auto-creation of database tables for you? Is this supported, or is the concept that you write your own database DDL to do this? Thanks -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Samba4... upgrade member servers?
I am upgrading a samba 3 domain controller with an ldap backend to samba 4 via classicupgrade and was wondering... do I need to upgrade our samba 3 file server at the same time or will it continue to work as is for the time being? Also, I have read conflicting opinions about whether I need to run winbindd on the member server (we do currently) given our use of ldap. Could someone enlighten me

Clients unable to get group policy...
Louis, 4.2.2 (git clone method for 4-2-stable branch) is what I am running. I will NOT be using Debian 8 due to systemd. If I have to do this, we're going to plan a down-time for the client, zero everything, do a fresh XenServer install and install Gentoo 64bit under XS. If that is what must be done, so be it. I can do that. I'll simply have one VM on each physical server which builds the

Samba4 machine fails to join in samba3 domain
Louis is right, you should upgrade, but, in the meantime, try adding 'ntlm auth = yes' to your smb.conf, see if that helps. > > Also try running the following commands: > > net getlocalsid > > net getdomainsid > > Rowland > Yes they should upgrade, I totally agree. Samba3 to Samba4 progressive migration
Hi, I have to migrate a company from Samba3+LDAP to Samba4. This company has different locations (around 10), all of them have the same LDAP tree replicated with its Samba server running as PDC. The user/group/passwd part of the migration is solved, but I have to deal with machine account yet. My plan is the following: First, install the Samba DC in the central location, run the classicupgrade.

Samba3 to Samba4 Group Migration during classicupgrade
Hey everyone... I'm testing samba3 to samba4 migration and I'm having a problem with group migration. Basically, when I run classicupgrade, he keeps warning about group membership. I increase log level and it tells that the group that some users belongs to don't exist. Is there anyway to tell samba classicupgrade to import groups first and then do the rest? Kind regards, Bruno
