Having installed Samba4 servers at our two sites and ensured that replication is working correctly, I connected a brand new Windows 8.1 Professional PC to the new AD network as a test.
I immediately encountered two problems:

Credential Manager problem (error 0x80090345) and older samba versions
Dear samba ppl,
I have the same problem as described in this link [1] (error
0x80090345 when trying to open Credential Manager under Windows 8.1)
with a machine joined to an NT4 style domain with a samba 3 DC. So far
the only workaround is to uninstall the updates mentioned in the
thread. The problem was fixed for samba 4 as mentioned here [2]. Is
there any chance that this might be fixed for

Is there a corresponding bug number for the Samba bugzilla so that I can
track when this is fixed for vanilla samba?

User's DPAPI/backupkey protected data lost when changing domain password
For anybody interested in tracking when this is resolved for mainline
samba4 there is now a bugzilla record here:

I hit this bug yesterday in a NT-based domain with samba-3.6.25.
Is there any patch or workaround for samba-3.x as well? The patch in the
mentioned bug does some LDAP-change ... I don't have any LDAP there.
Sure, migration to samba-4 and/or

Syslinux and pxe
Hello, I currently switch my WDS install to use the syslinux/pxelinux.0 image.? Everything works great but before when we used the WDS pxe image it would prompt you to hit F12 before confirming, otherwise it would continue to boot normally.? Since switching we no longer get this and since all of our machines have pxe boot enabled by default in the bios, all of our users are booting into pxe.? Is

User's DPAPI/backupkey protected data lost when changing domain password
After a user changes their password (CTRL-ALT-DEL) in our Samba 4 domain
(4.1.12) they lose access to any stored passwords on their Windows PC.
I've set the log level in smb.conf to 4 and enabled the GPO to record DPAPI
log entries in Windows to get the below log data.
My reading of the two is that the Windows PC believes it is failing to reset
the access to its DPAPI store (where the saved

Office 365, Windows 10 and Samba AD
Hi,
As you should know, 3.x is out of support. Assuming this is related to
the KB2992611 MS update, basically the bar was raised for clients in
response to a security issue, and caused havoc for people on Windows as
well. In order to fix 3.x, a good chunk of the infrastructure written
for Samba 4 (AD) would likely have to be moved across because the bar
really just has been raised

If that doesn't help, then you need to upgrade to Samba as an AD DC.
