Replication fails after DC re-joined to domain
Hi,
First some background:
==================
I had a test environment which had two samba DCs (running v 4.8.0rc2) and 1
Windows Server 2008R2 DC. The samba DCs had been upgraded from v 4.6x and the
secrets database was not encrypted (as far as I know). I decided to downgrade
one of the samba DCs to v 4.7.4.
On re-starting samba after the downgrade the log shows:
ldb: unable to dlopen

I agree, we need more logs here. Turn up the log level and see what
the error causing that final error is.
However, take care not to publish confidential details like staff names

Error joining Samba 4.7.4 DC to existing Win2008R2 domain
Can you specify the full DN of the DNS record in question?
Afterwards, maybe you can also try deleting that DNS record and retry
the join?
Failed to find machine account is almost certainly an unrelated debug
message. I don't think it has any relation to your issue.
Cheers,
Garming

Yes, add another DC, but you will probably have to do it in stages,
Samba 4.0.x went EOL 9 years ago. I think you would have to upgrade to
4.5.x then 4.20.x

a way to migrate pasword from Samba 4.0 AD DC to new AD DC?
Please, is there any way to migrate passwords from old Samba 4.0 Ad DC
to new (Samba 4.20) one?
On ldbsearch export on old AD only related item I see is 'unicodePwd'
attribute, and it is maybe possible write to new system using ldbmodify
- but it is right and simplest solution?
And one more question - why don't I get any result from the command

Changing active directory user password via LDAP
Hello, lists.
I'm struggling to find out, how one can change password of an active
directory (based on samba4) user via LDAP.
The problem is that if I try to use userPassword parameter:
dn: CN=John Smith,cn=Users,DC=domain,DC=com
changetype: modify
replace: userPassword
userPassword: newPassword
ldapmodify -v -c -a -f filename.ldif -H ldaps://server.domain.com -D\

Error joining Samba 4.7.4 DC to existing Win2008R2 domain
I have an existing Win2008-R2 domain with a single DC and I'd like to
replace this DC with a Samba 4 DC.
I'm using VirtualBox VMs to test the migration before going to production.
I've cloned Windows 2008R2 Server into the first VM, then installed
Ubuntu_18.04_server_x64_daily (Samba 4.7.4) into another VM.
