wbinfo fails: Error looking up domain users
Thanks Rowland, I am trying to setup an AD member server. I followed the wiki (https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setup_a_Samba_AD_Member_Server). I am on Fedora 21. The domain join succeeded But wbinfo fails: $ wbinfo -u Error looking up domain users I tried to increase windbind log verbosity to 10, but I can see no trace when issuing wbinfo: /etc/smb.conf log level = winbind:10

Hi, We are planning an update from Samba 3.x to 4.2.2 and installed Samba 4.2.2 on a test VM (samba-test). samba-test should be a basic AD member like in this example: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setup_a_Samba_AD_Member_Server#Set_up_a_basic_Member_Server_smb.conf With both our old config and a new one created analog to

Hello, Trying to set up an AD member server, I am stuck on nsswitch not working. wbinfo -u returns the list of domain users, but getent passwd <some user> always fails (exit 2) /etc/nsswitch.conf passwd: files winbind shadow: files winbind group: files winbind $ ls -l /usr/lib64/libnss_w* lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 19 23 f?vr. 14:39 /usr/lib64/libnss_winbind.so ->

wbinfo -u/-g/-n works, but not 'wbinfo -i' or 'id'
Hi! I'm trying to add a member to be used as fileserver, following the guides at: - https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setup_a_Samba_AD_Member_Server - https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Using_RFC2307_on_a_Samba_DC The AD server has been in use for month, but I can't get user information from the new member. The new member was joined to the directory, and nsswitch was configured. Running

wbinfo works, id and getent don't
This is a common thread and I'm wondering where they answer is.. I can see this theme posted many times -- recently here https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2015-May/191483.html and for which I was not able to find a solution The situation is this.. Samba 4.2 compiled from source on ubuntu 14. server. Samba 4.2 AD DC is working great in sliced server. the samba member server joined fine.

Winbind trouble. Wbinfo see's users, "getent passwd" doesn't
I'm trying to set up a new fileshare, to replace an aging NT4 machine we've been using for far too long. I'd like to run Linux (RedHat 7.3) on the machine. Basically, I'm trying to create a fileshare "files" that people can transparently log in to from NT4 and Windows 2000 workstations. My boss has approved the use of Linux for the server, but only if I can make it

RES: winbind/wbinfo not pulling info from W2K AD PDC
I've had a further look at this now and a hunt through some mail lists and I think it must have something to do with the windbind pipe in /tmp/.windbind/pipe. From what I understand it's the pipe that passes the windbind info onto other processes - although I may be wrong? Looking at my setup the pipe file isn't being created when starting winbind and after a full reboot and starting

winbind/wbinfo not pulling info from W2K AD PDC
Hi list, I have samba-3.0.2-2 rpm installed on Redhat Enterprise Linux 3 AS kernel version. I've been using the Samba 3 How-To and messages on various mailing lists to join Samba to an AD domain and authenticate using winbind/pam. So far Samba has successfully become a member of the AD domain and can browse file servers using smbclient but I haven't been able to get winbind working -
