GPO Create error
I have a domain that I upgraded from a Samba 3/LDAP set up about a year ago. I haven't done anything too interesting with it and it's generally been working OK. I attempted to create a new GPO for my domain. From a Win 7 client I get an error "This security ID may not be assigned as the owner of this object". Thinking this was an issue with sysvol acls, I ran "samba-tool

(Samba4) Normal users unable to login
This is a freshly provisioned Samba 4.0.0-rc5 installation. I provisioned the domain and created shares in the configuration file to match an existing Samba 3.5.x installation that we're moving away from (or at least, that's the plan...) for various reasons. I then moved all the contents of the shares over from the old server to the new server via rsync, including home directories and

Some mounted drives using GPO are not showed
Hello, Some of my users have complained about that some of her shared drives are not there. After research on one of the computers I've noticed that all drives are mounted correctly by GPO (you can use that drives from cmd and are showed on "net use" command), but when you use the Windows Explorer some of that drives are not showed (and are no accesible even setting manually the

Using GPO to mount shares on Linux
Hello, I'm using a Samba 4 as domain server and I've a lot of Windows computers that mounts shared drives on another server through GPO applied by user groups. Is there any way to do something similar on a Linux box, or I've to use a local script? Thanks! -- _________________________________________ Daniel Carrasco Marín Ingeniería para la Innovación i2TIC, S.L.

Sysvol Replication in Samba4
Hi, We installed a samba4 AD controller using Gpo for a small group of users (5 users), everything is OK. (Samba4 beta 7 on Ubuntu 12.04) We installed another Samba4 AD controller as a BDC of the first one with the command "samba-tool domain join" with succes. After checking this new installation, we saw that the sysvol share was not replicated from the PDC and all the Policies are

Using GPO to mount shares on Linux
Thanks Rowland. I'll give a try to both things (WG and SPN). To be honest, I ask here because the sssd daemon is working as expected allowing the authentication of the machine to the domain, and the real problem is that I'm not able to access to a shared drive using a Kerberos authentication (cifs and smbclient) and i've thought that maybe was a misconfiguration on member server

Using GPO to mount shares on Linux
Hai, I did a re-read of you thread. First. If you use smblcient, with a samba installed, use -s /path/alternative/smbclient.conf If i did read it correct. Your connecting from xUbuntu (samba version ??) to (debian8) samba 4.2 member How did you join the xUbuntu? https://docs.pagure.org/SSSD.sssd/users/ad_provider.html Like this setup? ^^^ > This setup is working as expected (some

Windows 8 polices are not applied
Hello all, I am having some problems with the group policies in a small (~10 pc's) AD. I have set up Samba and i used a NAS for saving home folders and policies. I then had to replace the NAS and i used a new ip for the new NAS. For the last step i changed the ip of the redirected folders in the policy in order to point all pc's to the new NAS. It seems the policies are not applied

Name Resolve Order : parameter of smb.conf with testparm
I am writing this letter and I hope that I'll have answers about the generation of smb.conf by the way of smb.conf.master with testparm command. Like is described on page 5 of Samba3-HOWTO.pdf. The situation is: - The manual of smb.conf says that the default value of the parameter ?name resolve order? is ?lmhosts host wins bcast?, but when I type the command like: # testparm -s

Bash-Completion for samba-tool
Hey list, arriving home from SambaXP, it was really nice. That darth vader cake was super sweet :-) Hearing some people talking about how much they'd like bash completion for `samba-tool`, I've put together an ugly script that does that. It's a very dumb script (I'm boldly calling it script), but it might make someones day a little bit easier.

Windows XP cannot join Samba 4AD but win 7 can.
Hello everybody, I've got some troubles making Win XP join may samba4 AD, and, well, i'm kind of stuck ! I use the binary distribution of Samba 4 for Ubuntu Trusty Server (4.1.6), with bind9 DLZ as a DNS backend. Everything works fine with Win7 workstations, but I get a message "Internal Error" on Win XP workstation during the domain join. The machine account is created on
