Unable to authenticate ldap externally after upgrade from 4.4.0 to 4.4.2
Hello, After upgrading all external services will no longer authenticate to the domain. One of those is osTicket. Looking through the release notes I figured this would happen. However I'm a bit tentative to make changes to my smb.conf without doing damage and asking for help from the list. I have 6 DC's. One holds all the FMSO roles. This is the smb.conf from that DC. Secure dynamic update failure with internal DNS
Hello, At one point secure dynamic updates worked. Now I require 'allow dns updates = nonsecure' for dynamic updates to work. I can't seem to find any trace of updates being performed in the samba logs or Windows. I've hit a wall and can't seem to progress. Since I couldn't pull anything from the logs I decided to run 'nsupdate -g -d -D -L 10'. This was

Oplocks Usage Recommendations Whitepaper (with attachment)
Here is Oplocks Usage Recommendations Whitepaper for Samba on HP-UX (originally was written for CIFS/9000 Server on HP-UX). Note that the intended audience is/are HP-UX customers who have questions and concerns about when to configure oplocks. This is intended as a rudimentry guide to help avoid the most obvious oplock pitfalls. Hopefully the plain text alignments hold up well for most editors.

Goldmine seems to a compiled database application compiled in something likeClipper. Clipper applications record lock through ISAM like files (DBF). However, in Windows NT/2000/XP, Opportunistic locking is turned on by default in order to accelerate file transfer from file services. [Windows 95/98 did not Opportunisticly lock] However, opportunistic locking corrupts ISAM and ISAM like

Samba, Kerberos, Autofs: Shares get disconnected
Hi Rowland yes sure I know who user '0' is ;-) so where should the ticket be then? I just rebooted the PC and logged in via SSH as root. There is no ticket for the machine :-( even though, the Active Directory join seems to be OK, as "net ads testjoin" says so. I am still a bit lost on how I should proceed. To have this all working more or less, I just mounted the shares with
