I can't join the new AD server with Samba4
Hi, I'm sorry for my english. i've migrated an old 3.6 samba domain to Samba 4.1 and the windows part is working fine (i can join and manage the server from a Windows Machine), but when I try to join the domain from another linux server it fails. I've followed this guide to migrate: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_Classic_Upgrade_%28NT4-style_domain_to_AD%29 and this for

kinit failure
Hi Due to putting a DVD in my Virtual Machine Host Computer which then filled the logs with errors and subsequently filled the drive crashing all vms. Luckily I had a backup of the DC image which I restored and some machines just worked and some can?t find KDC kinit: Cannot contact any KDC for realm 'BALEWAN.UNICORN.COM' while getting initial credentials I have tried leaving the domain

Debian Jessie joining AD as member fails with "The object name is not found."
Hi all! To clarify, it must have been removed from the copy-pasta, but “net ads join -U” did produce a password prompt as expected. The dig command produced the following: root at host:~$ dig -t SRV _ldap._tcp.domain.local ; <<>> DiG 9.9.5-9+deb8u6-Debian <<>> -t SRV _ldap._tcp.domain.local ;; global options: +cmd ;; Got answer: ;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode:

knit and smbclient executed with different users but no error thrown
Hi, I am using different users while executing kinit and smbclient as shown below, but I am not getting any error. How can a initial ticket granted to one user can be used for another user. Can you give some clarification. I am not an expert hence this doubt. I am using win 2003 AD. [root at 0050568B7DEB samba-4.3.4]# klist klist: No credentials cache found (ticket cache FILE:/tmp/krb5cc_0)

Debian Jessie joining AD as member fails with "The object name is not found."
Hi all! I had originally been using a DHCP-assigned address. I have now switched to a static IP, but that didn't solve the problem (same error message). I'm attaching my resolv.conf, nsswitch.conf and krb5.conf files. I have not manually altered either of them, although krb5.conf appears to have been updated by some tool somewhere along the way because my domain is listed as the

ntlm_auth with freeradius
Hello All, After updating to sernet-samba-4.6.4, ntlm_auth doesn't appear to work for me with challenge and nt-responses. I'm using ntlm_auth in freeradius to authenticate my wifi users against my AD. In sernet-samba-4.2.14 it was working perfectly. My freeradius server is an AD Member, and I've got two other sernet-samba-4.6.4 AD DC's. $ ntlm_auth --request-nt-key

Core dump trying to join domain on FreeBSD
Hello all, I have been trying for a while now to join a FreeBSD machine to an existing AD domain, using Samba 3.6. What happens is this: [root at infra1 ~]# net ads join -U Administrator at MY.REALM Enter Administrator at MY.REALM's password: net: sha1 checksum failed Abort trap: 6 (Speicherabzug geschrieben) I can see the newly created computer object in AD, and it does not make a

Cannot join Ubuntu12.04 Samba 4.1.17 to domain
Hi all I'm desperate now. On one of the sites I cannot connect Ubuntu to Windows AD 2003. Error below. On exactly the same setup but on a different network and also on VirtualBox VMs everything works as expected. Looks like something on the network then or mission parameter. Error is about KDC but I can successfully do kinit and get ticket. I can also successfully run: sudo net ads info

security = ads parameter not working in samba 4.9.5
I've re-read this thread but its a bit confusing due to 2 persons with the same probem in one thread. Im thinking here, how is samba started, since winbind is not running. Im suspecting samba-addc or samba is starting. Not smbd nmbd winbind. I suggest to run this: Disable that all again. systemctl disable samba-addc samba smbd nmbd winbind systemctl mask samba-addc samba smbd nmbd

Samba 4.2.7 - winbind very high cpu load
Hi, we have a winbind issue with Samba (Version 4.2.7-SerNet-RedHat-19.el6) on one of our servers. After a while (once a day) one of the winbind daemons causes a very high cpu load (100%). This load remains until we kill this process. This server is a member of a AD domain with several trusted domains. I think this happens because winbind has problems with one of the trusted domains (ALS2)
