I've used the Samba AD DC HOWTO <https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_AD_DC_HOWTO> to install Samba 4 as an Active Directory/Domain Controller. hi all, after investigating a bit more about my performance problems, the task that spins at 100% cpu (once in a while) appears to be consistently dcesrv. What is the dcesrv role's purpose? Which is the samba log facility that captures dcesrv activities? thank you, franz

Ok Steve, Now its time to edit the status file of the packages. make a backup of : /var/lib/dpkg/status open it with an editor. search for "Package samba" , you probly see" installed ok not-configured. and change status to : Status: install ok installed after the change run : apt-get -f install that should do the trick. Hello, It seems Samba4 is having problems with CNAME records. I am seeing the same behavior as mentioned in the thread below. Is there any ETA on a fix for this?
