I don't know what his use case is, but I installed telnet on this computer a while back for the Android Remote Keyboard app.

Small linux print server
This is a bit off topic, however it's related to a samba based network...
I've got a small network (10 users) running samba on a Linux box with a HP
network printer. This is working so well, that the only network problems
that I have are with printers other printers "shared" by Win 95. Therefore:
I was planning to turn an old 486 with an 80M HDD into a print server,

storing the return of system() function
To get the tech specs out of the way I am running Rstudio(R 2.13.0) on a
ubuntu box. I am trying to use information returned from the system command
within an Rscript. System() passes commands to my ubuntu prompt and returns
the normal messages.
For example.

Some people are annoyed that CentOS keeps changing on them, and keep going to greater and greater lengths to try and argue that CentOS should not

A request for help managing wiki permissions
Long story short, the core team doesn't need to be in the business of
micro-managing wiki permissions. We've not been that good at it during
the best of times, and as the 6.6 build process is showing we've clearly
let some stuff slip without following up on it appropriately here.
What I'd propose is that 3-4 people who have been around the
distribution a while (perhaps John

CentOS 5.6 PHP 5.3 and SquirrelMail
OK, so I did an upgrade to PHP 5.3 on one of my servers. I noticed the
uninstall of php also removed SquirrelMail and it won't install under
PHP 5.3. Has anybody worked this out with a good RPM or repo solution?

PHP 5.3: IUS vs CentOS repos
I need to upgrade PHP because the latest WordPress requires one at least at
5.2.4. What are the tradeoffs of using the php53 packages provided by
CentOS versus IUS? I've seen that installing the RHEL-derived php53
requires removing php first and it creates package conflicts because it
doesn't provide a virtual php-common package. That suggests I should
install the IUS package. Is

Parametrized object name in Save statement
Greetings All,
I am looking to write a parametrized Rscript that will accept a variable
name(that also is the name of the flat file), transform the data into a data
frame and preform various modeling on the structure and save the output and
plot of the model. In this example i am using a rpart decision tree. The
only problem i am having is integrating the parameter into the internal
object name

Saving misclassified records into dataframe within a loop
Greetings R world,
I know some version of the this question has been asked before, but i need
to save the output of a loop into a data frame to eventually be written to a
postgres data base with dbWriteTable. Some background. I have developed
classifications models to help identify problem accounts. The logic is this,
if the model classifies the record as including variable X and it turns out

There is no CentOS "family". CentOS clone is dead and will be now
replaced with no-cost RHEL, so in market share (over time) CentOS will
be replaced with RHEL.
CentOS Stream will be used solely by developers and and entities like
Facebook (as a base for their own in house solution).

ext3 fs errors 3T fs
Hello,
I looked through the archives a bit and could not find anything relevant,
if you know otherwise please point me in the right direction.
I have a ~3T ext3 filesystem on linux software raid that had been behaving
corectly for sometime. Not to long ago it gave the following error after
trying to mount it:
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/md0,

Sources for extras??
With invaluable help here, I've just gotten 6.0 onto a PC. I went
through the listings in PackageKit, removing things I know I'll never
use; ran yum update; installed Opera; went to the epel, rpmfusion, and
one whose name slips my mind (It's a new name.); enabled them all; and
tried to get a lot of my regular apps :

rpmforge references in the wiki
Someone made mention on IRC earlier of a reference to rpmforge on the
wiki and it got me thinking (yeah, never a good thing)...
A quick search on the wiki itself shows a lot_of references to
rpmforge. As this is a dead project and has been a dead project for 3+
years now it would be quite useful to the consumers of the wiki material
for those references to be removed and replaced with something
