SAMBA not working as AD member server
I am trying to get SAMBA working as a member server with a Windows
2008R2 AD server, CentOS 6.6 and Samba 3.6
The two following commands work fine:
kinit administrator at TESTNET.LOCAL
net ads join ?U administrator
however wbinfo -u only shown local accounts
and getent passwd returns nothing. Any help would be appreciated.

Wireless Production Servers Authentication of Active Directory with Inconsistent NTLM Auth Failures
Hi
I work for a medium sized University and have recently set up some new infrastructure to authenticate our wireless users of Active Directory. Every thing was working as expected or so I thought. I set up a monitoring script that performs an ntlm_auth every minute and it shows that the authentication is failing inconsistently but for around 5 minutes at a time (see below).

What works:
net join: succeeded
wbinfo -t: checking the trust secret via RPC calls succeeded

Connecting samba + winbind with 2 controllers windows domains.
I have configured Samba + Winbind + AD. Currently my windows domain consists
of 2 servers and all the samba settings I have it on one of them.
How I can do so if one server fails windows, work with other Windows server?
I have only to add to server2 to the password server option in my smb.conf?
Use: samba-winbind-3.0.33 + 3.0.33

I appreciate the assistance. I am running SuSE 9.3 with the samba and
winbind packages (latest releases). I have configured the krb5.conf to

"net ads join" hangs
Hello,
I am using samba-3.0alpha21 on a out of the box debian-3.0 box trying to join a native windows 2000 (active directory) domain. I have used alpha18,19,and 20 in the past with alot of success on red hat and linux from scratch systems with minimum challenges. However I cannot seem join the domain in this instance. I am using openldap 2.1.8 and mit kerberos 1.2.7. The result of "net ads

Failing to join an ADS domain
Hi,
I am trying to join a microsoft AD domain using RHEL 5.3. I tried with the
default Samba release (provided by redhat) with no luck. I've just upgraded
to Samba 3.3.6 (using http://ftp.sernet.de/pub/samba/recent/rhel/5/x86_64/)
but it still fails.
The AD domain is "example.domain.org" and has its own DNS servers.
My /etc/resolv.conf file redirects DNS queries to the AD DC DNS

I running samba-3.0.13-1 on RH9
(openldap-2.0.27-8,krb5-1.2.7-10,nss_ldap-202-5) and configured as show

I've looked on SAMBA3 by example book and relatives official guide on the
site.
First I have try to run samba and winbind retriving users and groups from

Samba 3.0.25b as a domain member to a Samba PDC
I've been using Samba for about 7 years of so, but have hit a hurdle I
just can't seem to figure out.
I want to setup samba domain member servers to be members of a samba
3.0.25 (NT4 type) domain. No windbind, LDAP, or any other of the more
complex authentication mechanism. This is the same functionality going
way back to Samba 2.2, or so. In fact, I successfully did this on samba

Samba authentication across AD forests
Hello all,
I am currently trying to connect a Samba server (running on CentOS 6.5) to a Windows 2008R2 AD domain (domain A),
which itself has a two-way transitive forrest-trust to another Windows 2008R2 AD domain (domain B).
The Samba server is joined to domain A and should be able to authticate users in domain B.
Is this currently possible using some version of either Samba3 or Samba4 ?
If so,

Trying to get idmap backend using ADS working...
Hi folks,
I have been trying to use the ADS as the IDMAP backend but without
success. I have followed the examples in the HOWTO and Samba-3 by
example. While both of these docs describe using LDAP as the
repository, I have not been able to make the info work for ADS. I do
not want to use LDAP nor ADS to authenticate Linux users, just for the
UID/GID resolution. There will be multiple Samba

Network_access_denied and no group in domain
Was: RE: [Samba] samba 3.0 and freebsd 5.1
Hi Aaron,
I deinstalled the 3.0.1 port and got the source tarball for 3.0.2a and
installed from there. I also swapped out 3.0.1 for 3.0.2 on the domain
controller when I discovered the second problem.
I can now use smbclient to log into a file share on the member server,
giving an " smb: \> " prompt but doing ls gives an error of:
