Winbind can do everything besides lookup by name
Hi,
I have winbind joined to a Win2003 AD domain with rid idmap backend.
Almost everything's working. wbinfo -u and -g work fine, as does
getent passwd and getent group. I can also getent by ID number. The
only thing I can't do is getent by name, which is preventing logins:
root@services2:/etc/pam.d# net ads testjoin
Join is OK
root@services2:/etc/pam.d# getent passwd | grep david.croft

asterisk 1.6.2.11 freezes the server
Hi,
I have a problem that the machine running asterisk 1.6.2.11 freezes
unexpectly time to time. Sometimes it runs for 4 weeks without any
problem, sometimes after a free it freezes again in 24 hours. But
usually it runs normally for 1 month or so before it freezes again.
I could not find any additional info in any file located in /var/log/
including asterisk's messages file. Verbosity

Samba logins disconnect?
I have been chasing down a problem where PC logins to our Samba server
get disconnected from their printer and file shares. Here is the sequence
of events:
User logs in to PC
File shares from NetApp file server are mapped and mounted
Printer shares from Samba server go into "opening" state, may or
may not become "Ready"
Later, mapped network drives are

still seeking way to recover card after cursor disappears or card locks up
A couple of weeks ago, I posted a question about how to recover
a card (an Asus ENGT430 card, which the box says is a GeForce GT
430, running Mageia 1 with kernel 2.6.38.8-server-10.mga) when
the cursor had disappeared or the card had locked up while exiting

command does work to change the console, just as Alt-Ctrl-F(n) for

read.table - reading text variables as text
Hi
I'm reading a CSV file using read.table, and it keeps importing a text
variable as a factor. To overcome this, I've used the as.is command
referring to the variable in question (called "stim")
data<-read.table(file.choose(), header=T, sep=",", as.is = "stim")
However, "stim" is still imported as a factor. I notice there are other

NIC PCI passthrough
Hi All,
I have configured a domU (netdom) to connect direct to a NIC using PCI
passthrough. The NIC is now hidden from dom0, and hence dom0 goes off the
network. Is there any way to configure dom0 to connect to the network via
netdom. How do I setup a backend driver in netdom and frontend driver in
dom0 and other domUs for connecting to the network?
I have only one NIC on my host, and I am using

Creating new variables. How do you get them into a data frame?
Hi
I'm an R newbie. I can't seem to add new variables to data frames. Here are
the stages
(1) I import the data using read.csv.
(2) I fix it using fix(data)
(3) I create a new variable using
spos<-tagPOS(stim,language="en",model=NULL,tagdict=NULL).
(tagPOS is a function in the OpenNLP toolkit, which tags a string for part
of speech. "stim" is a variable in the

Re: Remove Virtual bridge and DNSMASQ
HI Michal
Thank you for explaining. I have this situation in a number of production
servers where we would always use static IPs for the host and VMs. In such
case we have no requirement for NATed network in the future. And we we
ever do, we can rely on a DHCP server within the LAN to provide IPs to the
VMs.
I'll look to remove both libivirt-daemon-driver-network,

An embarrassment of riches
I have a dataset which I am trying to smooth, using locally weighted
regression. The y values are count data, integers with Poisson
distribution, and it is important for the regression function to know
this, since assuming a Gaussian distribution will lead to substantial
errors. It is a time series; the x values have equal five minute
intervals.
Here is the problem: I have an embarrassment

It seems to work only with FQDN:

The format of the specified computer name is invalid.
The command failed to complete successfully.
C:\Temp>netdom verify cyb64w10-monster.ad.cyberdyne.local

Remove Virtual bridge and DNSMASQ
I am running KVM virtualization with libvirtd (libvirt) 0.10.2 in bridged
network mode, however I still have the default virtual network
bridge/interfaces and dnsmasq on the host. What I am trying to understand
is whether or not dnsmasq and the virtual network (*virbr0, Vnet0 and Vnet1*)
still play any role. If not, can I remove them?
On most virtual hosts I see they are left around even when a

Centos security update
Thanks for the replies. The tool that we used for testing the security
vulnerability is "Nessus".
I have glibc version 2.17-78.el7, I saw that CVE-2015-0235 (Ghost) is fixed
in this version and I want to apply patch for the vulnerbailities
CVE-2015-1472 & CVE-2015-1473. Can you please help me in finding the right
version that has fixes for these?
Thanks
