Fwd: Unable to change passwords from Win XP Pro clients
Thank you Rowland!!
Sorry about my ignorance. I guess I tried many different things and
polluted the smb.conf file.
I've removed every single line you mentioned off my smb.conf. Still the
problem persists:

Issues with OS/2 and Samba 4
Hi folks,
I made some tests with OS/2 (really!) and Samba 4 (tested with 4.1.17)
and found some issues:
1. Domain Logon
When doing a domain logon with "logon" then we get an error message in
the log:

samba-tool domain backup offline stalls
FreeBSD-12.1p7 jail running Samba-4.10.15 on ZFS.
When I run 'samba-tool domain backup offline targetdir=/tmp' I see this:
running backup on dirs: /var/db/samba4/private /var/db/samba4 /usr/local/etc
Starting transaction on /var/db/samba4/private/secrets
At which point samba-tool enters a permanent wait state.

Samba-4.10.13 IPv6 turn it off
I am working on a FreeBSD jail (12.1p4) using samba410. I have joined this
service to our existing Samab DC DOMAIN using samba-tool domain join. This
worked as far as I can tell.
I have these entries in smb4.conf
# BOF
# Global parameters
[global]
netbios name = SAMBA-02
realm = BROCKLEY-2016.HARTE-LYNE.CA
server role = active directory domain controller
workgroup = BROCKLEY-2016

Troubles upgrading jailed DC from 4.8.7 to 4.8.9
Hello.
On several FreeBSD 11.2/amd64 servers, I've got a jail dedicated to
running Samba as an AD DC.
Some days ago I upgraded one of them from 4.8.7 to 4.8.9 and suddenly
everything stopped working.
Since it was a production box, I immediately restored the whole jail
from a backup, with no chance to better investigate.
Today, with more time, I tried on another server and again I run

NT_STATUS_ADDRESS_NOT_ASSOCIATED error msg on DC boot
Hi,
after rebooting the AD DC i regularly get NT_STATUS_ADDRESS_NOT_ASSOCIATED and - as a consequence - task_server_terminate: [XXXd failed to setup interfaces] error messages in log.samba (I removed a couple of "samba: setproctitle not initialized, please either call setproctitle_init() or link against libbsd-ctor." lines for better readability):

Domains, vpn and bowse lists (samba 4.2)
Hi!
I apologize, if the questions are simple, but its been a long time
since I use Windows as enhanced typewriter only. The need to implement
domain etc arose just suddenly.
I am trying to implement VPN (and succeeded to implement it), even
able to join windows clients to the Samba AD domain over VPN, but I am
confused by not getting the browse list of computers for the network I

Fileserver and access groups
Hi!
I have Samba AD DC and Samba fileserver (hereafter-FS) as domain
member. I need to organize access to the specific shares on FS for a
groups of specific domain users. Where should I make the domain user
groups - on DC, on FS or on both?
Does the FS need any local Samba users at all? What if domain users'
homes are located on FS?

[XCP] [''NO_HOSTS_AVAILABLE'']... what?
I''m still running XCP 0.5 on two servers. I am trying to make a few 10Gig Slackware64 13.1 servers (using the Windows 2003 server template).
However, every time I try to start the guests in OpenXenManager, they die with something like:
Async VM.start Slack64 13.1 #3[''NO_HOSTS_AVAILABLE'']
I tried starting the hosts from the xsconsole and got the same results. I
