idmap_ad partially stopped working after upgrading Samba from 3.4.3 to 3.6.3
Dear list,
upgrading from SLES11 SP1 to SLES11 SP2, I upgraded Samba from 3.4.3
to 3.6.3. I was successfully using idmap_ad to authenticate users but
after the upgrade it stopped working and users are not seen by the OS.
Obviously the users I want to see on the Linux server have all RFC2307
attributes populated and are seen by all other SLES11 SP1 servers.
I checked everything (I know) from the

adding samba4 member to samba4 domain
I'm having some problems I don't quite understand adding a samba4 member
to a samba4 domain. The member joins without problems, but no one can login.
I'm guessing it might be an idmap problem (well, see below for more
details) - the login server is several times updated, and started using
alpha16 I think, but does not have any idmap backend configuration at all...
Could I add that,

How to configure Winbind to use uidNumber and gidNumber
Thank you for this quick answer Louis.
On DC:
On DC I had to add one line to have winbind retrieving uidNumber AD field
rather than having Winbind chosing some random UID for my users.
This line is:
idmap_ldb:use rfc2307 = yes
as explained in https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_RFC2307_in_AD
That's a start.
Unfortunately winbind is still giving my users GID number set to 100,

All,
I'm trying to configure a Samba 3 AD member server including winbind. I'm on RHEL 6.6, so I'm using Samba version 3.6.23.
Here's my configuration:
[global]
log level = 3 winbind:10
workgroup = ABC
server string = LV37
netbios name = LV37
idmap config *:backend = tdb
idmap config *:range = 2000-9999

Samba 3.0.26a, windows 2k3 r2 SFU, problems with auth/nss
Dear samba list,
For some time we've had servers connecting to a w2k3 r2 server via
ADS setup. Wins was working fine and users were able to authenticate.
Recently we've added a GFS like system. This required getting the
UID/GID's unified. Suggestions were made on the samba IRC channel to
install SFU on the PDC. I'm receiving some very strange output.
Usernames/pwd have

Could not convert sid: NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER
Hai,
Thank you for having trust in my packages.. :-)
Now if you use my package, i suggest, do read the howto's also...
All you need for a good setup on debian stretch is there.
if anyone find/see's improvements, please tell me... Or change it on github, thats why its there.
First is this an upgraded domain? Or a new domain?
What does `getent passwd username` tell you.
Same for `id

samba-3.6.1 cannot be used by trusted domain users?
Hi there
Samba is a member of dom1.corp.net, there are also dom2.corp.net and
dom3.corp.net - together making up the "CORP" forest. There are other
forests with two-way trusts with CORP.NET, such as OTHER.NET
We have a problem where Samba/winbind is inconsistent on account details
and therefore access.
* wbinfo -D OTHER returns details about "other.net" - good
* wbinfo

Could not convert sid: NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER
hi all,
I can't figure out why winbind can't find ad users with wbinfo calls.
It happens on a member server, Debian GNU/Linux stretch, samba is 4.7.5
from Louis repository:
[global]
security = ADS
workgroup = EXAMPLEAD
realm = EXAMPLE.ORG
idmap config * : backend = tdb
idmap config * : range = 1000000-3000000

Domain Member server - Domain users don't get access
Hello list!
I have a newish Samba 4.1.4 (from git) AD DC running in an Ubuntu Precise
KVM guest. It seems to be running well. Recent list posts have led me to set
up a second instance of samba/ubuntu as a file server. Like the domain
controller, Samba was built from git, but then it was configured using the
"Samba/Domain Member" wiki. I added the sfu attributes to a few users/groups
