samba 4.1.17 on raspberry pi as ad dc - final thoughts, success and follow up link
Hey List,
first, let me give a huge thanks to everyone who replied and helped.
I learned a lot and I could not have done it in any reasonable time
frame without your suggestions and answers!
I started new from scratch to make sure no old configuration / data was
screwing with further attempts.
It pretty much worked without problem. A few things that were done

samba 4.1.17 on raspberry pi as ad dc - final thoughts, success and follow up link
Hi!
Did you managed to correctly deploy GPOs?
I'm facing some issues with some types of gpo not being applied.
Thanks

Can't get latest version for Raspberry Pi
Hi all,
Someone should be able to help me - I think this is an easy one.
I have a Raspberry Pi successfully running nut-server talking via USB to a
Liebert UPS.
It is running Version 2.6.4 which was installed ages ago following
instructions freely available on the internet by A. Bakalidis
I now see that the directory containing 2.6.4 in the repository at

samba 4.1.17 on raspberry pi as ad dc - final thoughts, success and follow up link
so far, I've only tried to deploy msi via gpo.
what gpo type is troubling you? i could try and report back...
when I had initial gpo trouble it was because dns wasnt working quite
right (when adding a new pc to the domain, it was not added to dns and
hence could not gpoupdate)
does gpoupdate /force give any errors?

tinc on a raspberry pi - version 1.0.19 will not work
Hello Guus,
thank you for your fast reply. Indeed the upgrade to a newer Raspbian
image did solve my problem with tinc, I was not aware that there was a
new Jessie based version.
The current Jessie based Raspbian has tinc 1.0.24 version included,
which runs fine, so I did not run tinc with debug messages enabled,
since the issue that had caused my tinc crashes in 1.0.19 had probably
been fixed.

NUT and Raspberry pi 3b+
I have a Powercom SPD-850U UPS. I try to connect this UPS with my
Raspberry PI 3B + via NUT,
I came to the conclusion - all works nice with Raspbian (2018-03-13),
the first one that supports 3B +, but does not work with the latest
version of Raspbian (2019-04-08). I think, the algorithm for working
with the USB bus has changed in the latest versions of the kernel. And
this is bad, because it

What do you mean by "crashes"? Were there any error messages logged? In
doubt, run tinc in the foreground with debugging messages enabled:
tincd -n <netname> -d5 -D

parallel::detectCores() bug on Raspberry Pi B+
In R 3.3.2 detectCores() in package parallel reports 2 rather than 1 on
Raspberry Pi B+ running Raspbian. (This report is just 'for the record'.
The model is superseded and I think no longer produced.) The problem
seems to be caused by
grep processor /proc/cpuinfo

(On Raspberry Pi 2 and 3 there is no error because

Keep on losing communication: Raspberry Pi, CyberPower PR1500LCD
Everything runs fine for several hours, then communication is lost and nut
doesn't reestablish communication on its own.
Running sudo upsdrvctl stop then sudo upsdrvctl start reestablishes
communication.

samba 4.1.17 on raspberry pi as ad dc - winbind breaks it again
okay, I started to look into winbind and the /etc/nsswitch.conf (and
smb.conf)... and it wreaked havoc...
I was using the guide at
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setup_a_Samba_AD_Member_Server
- right guide?
the guide is talking about "samba member server that is part of an
active directory"
Is that correct? I mean, THE ad domain controller is member of the ad,
but it sounds like
