The RPC server is unavailable
I added a new test user and it worked until I added the user to the "domain admins" group. Once there, it also started getting the NT_STATUS_INVALID_SID error message. It seems like the group is corrupted somehow. Any ideas on how to fix this? Can I reset or recreate a system group like Domain Admins? The RPC server is unavailable
Hi, I'm running a samba 4.2 server on RedHat5 and for some reason I can't seem to logon using the AD Users and Computers -tool. Whenever I try to connect to the PDC I get the following error: "The following Domain Controller could not be contacted: <name of pdc>. The RPC server is unavailable." I've checked for any possible firewall issues, but even with all

Winbindd dies instantly
Hi, I'm trying to set up a Samba 4.1.16 file server for our (Samba 4) domain. But for some reason I can't seem to be able to get it to work. Even worse, I have run out of ideas on how to debug this. I've been tampering with this for quite some time now, but I've come to realize I can't figure this out on my own. Can someone give me some pointers on where to look in order

Failed to connect host on port 135 - NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_REFUSED
Hello, I've been trying to install Samba4 for a while now, following the instructions over at: http://linuxdrops.com/install-samba-4-on-centos-rhel-fedora-debian-ubuntu/ However, when I get to the stage where I should be able to join the domain with a Windows machine (7, not XP) I run into networking issues. For one, my network is behind a NAT so I can't just use a public DNS for

Winbindd dies instantly
You didn't send your mail to the list. ;-) As you said, you have samba-ad packages installed. Uninstall samba-ad, because you only need samba. Samba-ad is for DCs. I would try this to avoid errors to winbind by this package. Am 31. Hi Upgrading without knowing whats the problem I feel a bit like with Windows or lots of comercial software: "The next version will solve all your problems" and we all know that's never true. I appreciate any help. Cheers -------- Mensaje reenviado -------- Asunto: NT_STATUS_INVALID_SID in a SDC Fecha: Tue, 10 May 2016 12:22:25 -0500 De: Kasandra Padisha

Administrators SID is invalid.
Hello, I've got a samba 4.2 DC, which has worked well for about a month now. It still works for all users except "Administrator". If I login to a Windows box with the Administrator account, I can't connect to any shares and clicking on a mapped drive returns the error "The security ID structure is invalid". Opening "Active Directory Users and Computers" on

Print Server not staying working
Hi there, Samba Version 4.17.12-Debian I am having to constantly restart winbind and smbd in order for my client machines to print. Every 5 or so minutes, the printers from this print server appear as "Server offline" in Windows. If I restart smbd and winbind at the same time, they come back for a bit, and everyone can print as per normal. I have seen the bug report to delete

Corrupted idmap...
OK, I noticed that also, but why does everything return NT_STATUS_INVALID_SID? Even if I run "smbclient -L \\localhost -U adminnamehere" on the DC itself, I get the error. At this point we are looking at erasing every workstation, wiping the DC, and starting from scratch. It has been a week and not even rolling back to 4.4 fixed it. What should my next steps be? I attached the server

PCRE, and setting C-, LD- and CPP-FLAGS for a local r-devel installation
Hello, Got some at the time surprising errors some days ago when building a local r-devel installation on a cluster, with apparent outdated or missing dev versions of some files. After reading the r-devel news ( https://developer.r-project.org/blosxom.cgi/R-devel/NEWS), it turned out that " Use of the included versions of ?zlib?, ?bzlib?, ?xz? and PCRE is deprecated: these are frozen and

NT_STATUS_INVALID_SID in a SDC
Hi All I have a running SAMBA PDC on Debian Jessie on a PowerPC. I have backported Samba 4.3.18 and is working well. I have installed a SDC (if I may use that name) on a different network, the same version of Samba but on a Debian Jessie on AMD64. I followed every instruction in https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Join_an_additional_Samba_DC_to_an_existing_Active_Directory. So every test
