Windows XP sees fedora14/samba3 shares but not fedora20/samba4 shares
Marc, et al, Thanks for your reply. Sorry, I didn't mean to be confusing. Summary of problem: 1) XP sees samba shares on fedora14/samba3 machine, but not on fedora20/samba4 machines. 2) all fedora machines see all shares including on XP machine. 3) clicking on f20 machine from XP tries to log in rather than showing the shares. Login is not successful. 4) all machines can ping each

SOLVED: Re: Windows XP sees fedora14/samba3 shares but not fedora20/samba4 shares

Now the XP machine can see both the f14 and f20 shares. (It was not even necessary to restart nmbd or smbd on the f20 machines.) Now, if I'm not asking for too much, can you please explain why this worked. :-) Many thanks

Windows XP sees fedora14/samba3 shares but not fedora20/samba4 shares
Hi, isn't it possible, that your new Samba4 server uses higher SMB protocol, than the old MS windows XP machine can understand/handle? Not sure about this, but might be worth checking? cheers :] -- *Karel Lang* *Unix/Linux Administration* lang at afd.cz | +420 731 13 40 40 AUFEER DESIGN, s.r.o. | www.aufeerdesign.cz On 03/06/2015 02:42 AM, Al Schapira wrote: > Hello, > > A

Cannot see linux machines from XP
I'll try to spell out the problem as best I can. There are three computers on a LAN, "ADS1", "ADS2" and "DRS2". ADS1 and ADS2 run samba-3.5.8-76.fc14.i686 under Fedora 14. DRS2 runs Windows XP professional, SP3. Each of them can successfully ping all the others by name. They are all in the same WORKGROUP (GAMMA5). The Fedora machines (ADS1, ADS2) can see all

Resizing lvm fails with fedora20
Hi, I'm trying to resize a 15GB LVM root partition on a fedora20 server with a fedora20 guest and I'm having a problem. Is this supported on fedora20? I recall having a similar problem (maybe even exact same problem) all the way back in fedora16 or fedora17, but hoped/thought it would be fixed by now? # virt-df -h test1-011015.img Filesystem Size Used

samba Digest, Vol 147, Issue 19
Hello, thanks for replying. I installed and configured samba 4.1.7 and ntp 4.2.6 according to https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Time_Synchronisation. I don't need further time updates. I need to change the date to DC samba4 the first days of every months by the last day of the previous month and my clients automatically update their time. I am aware of problems this can trigger but in this

character translations with smbclient (was Share Access)
Hi, Thanks for the tip. I went to the Netherlands last week so didn't get a chance to try this out until this week. I upgraded to samba 2.2.3a and that helped. The bad news is that it only solved some of the problems. The file link to the floppy backs up now as the translation of the link is consistent somehow, but the character translation on the $ (dollar sign) and ? (pound sign) is not

Error using the mi package
I'm trying to impute data using the mi package, but after running through almost the entire first round of imputations (which takes quite a while), it throws this error (I'll include the whole output prior to the error for context). Does anyone know what is causing it, or how I can fix it? More specifically, how can I tell what is throwing the error so I know what to fix? Is

[LLVMdev] [3.7.0] Two late issues with cross compilation to mips
Thanks. This is making a lot more sense now and it's looking like this issue isn't Mips specific. Here's the IR dump before simple register coalescing (note: I've patched the IR printer to print the contents of the regmask): 4480B %vreg260<def> = LDC1 %vreg253, <cp#3>[TF=6]; mem:LD8[ConstantPool] AFGR64:%vreg260 GPR32:%vreg253 4496B %vreg261<def> = FMUL_D32

syslog-ng
Hello, I know centos does not use syslog-ng, but I have installed it at my university. My intention is if a particular string appears in my /var/log/messages I would like to get an email alert. For example, if i see a message "foo" in /var/log/kern I would like to email myself. Any idea how to do this? Has anyone done this before? TIA

email and MS outlook
We use Microsoft Outlook heavy at school but our backed is CentOS. I use echo "Foo" | mail -s "subject" addr at unc.edu a lot. Is it possible to change the priority to High so Outlook will understand it? The priority meaning the email will be sent to the normal email queue but on Outlook it would have the exclamation point. TIA
