A working CUPS authentication now fails without change anything...
Hi, Just a moments ago i've sent a message to other user saying that I've a working server with CUPS authentication using AD groups. Well, that authentication is not working anymore and i've not changed anything... The thursday I was configuring the server to allow the management of cups with AD groups and was working perfect. After that i've added some printer alias to samba

'passwd chat' for Debian Woody password sync
what is the 'passwd chat' line for Samba 2.2.3a-12.3 on Debian Woody that enables password synchronisation with Windows 2000 clients in a domain? I currently have this in smb.conf but it doesn't work: unix password sync = yes passwd program = /usr/bin/passwd %u passwd chat = *Enter\snew\sUNIX\spassword:* %n\n *Retype\snew\sUNIX\spassword:* %n\n I get the Windows message

samba 3.6.4 smbd dies on solaris 10 sparc64
Hi list, Disclaimer: not a subscriber, not a samba expert, just trying to get samba running on a Solaris 10 system. We build samba 3.6.4 from source for various platforms. We link against our own builds of cyrus-sasl 2.1.23, openldap 2.4.23, and openssl 1.0.0h. On Solaris we also compile against krb5-1.10.1. Builds are done with GNU tools whenever possible (gcc/ld/make). The build host, as well

Show stopper - 2nd cry for help
<Long Post, sorry!> Folks, I have a really nasty problem preventing me from migrating a bunch of NetWare 5 servers to Samba--attempts to copy large (> 2MB+) files to any samba share results in an error. To clarify what I mean by "error": 1. I attempt to copy, using explorer, a 2MB+ file to any samba share. 2. A 30 second or so pause occurs (copying this file to any other

mount cifs
Hi, I updated our servers to 4.2.11, and I have a problem, but I'm not sure if the problem is related to the update. I am trying to use mount.cifs: > mount -t cifs -o username=username,password=super_secret,domain=WRKGRP //ip.of.our.samba/share /mnt > mount error(112): Host is down > Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs) Host is up, i can use smbclient to

Winbind error "Could not fetch our SID - did we join?"
We did, in fact, join mere seconds ago, but for some reason, winbind still can't find itself. ADUC etc meanwhile have no trouble finding the newly added computer account. Wiping /var/{lib,cache}/samba/ (and the computer account) makes no difference, the error persists. How do I proceed? -- Mit freundlichen Grüßen, / Best Regards, Sven Schwedas, Systemadministrator Mail/XMPP sven.schwedas

samba4 as domain ad member
Hello, I didn't make a step forward with my problem or misunderstanding in samba3 in that case "AW: [Samba] CentOS Samba as Domain Member", so I decided to try it with samba4. Here I ran into another problem with winbind and it's called: NT_STATUS_INVALID_PARAMETER_MIX. This is my configuration and relevant logs. Load smb config files from /etc/samba/smb.conf rlimit_max:

Input/Output error - Not Samba ?
Hi, I have a very odd problem which perhaps is not related to Samba but to be sure... I have a RH6.2 2.2.20 ACLs Samba server 2.2.2 and everything is/was running fine partaking in a Windows 2000 domain. I needed to reboot the server. It has come up and I am getting "input/output errors" all over the logs when I try and access any of the shares on the raid array from a Windows client

smbclient oddness
Sorry all, I think I attached the wrong files. Apologies for the noise. Correct files attached. again .. these are from the logfile on the server and were in the log file named 192.168.168.13.log 192.168.168.13 is the IP address of the test client orgonon that I have set up for this. I have cut two sections from the log and they start at the same point and seem to be the same until line 162;
