'Smb' server service is reason of panic of Samba 436 smbd daemon.
Everyone is in his (her) shoes, as following each has his (her) own conditions (meaning environment) as tasks. And sometimes what one offers is not applicable for other one. :) > tdbsam or ldapsam, I would just use the Samba standalone server wiki page as a start, if I were you, this (though it doesn't show it) uses the tdbsam backend. Can you tell me briefly, what are diffiriencies

'Smb' server service is reason of panic of Samba 436 smbd daemon.
I saw at the link, I tried simple conf posted at link, but didn' t get working result. By the way, I use passdb backend = samba_dsdb Which backend should I use withion standalone server ? After deleting all content of private folder (after provision as standalone server) I got 'smbd' error: "pdb_samba_dsdb_init_secrets failed!" > Also if you want to run Samba 4 as a

Samba4 4.2 building options and error during Samba4 4.2. building breaks it.
May I don' t understand you, may be you don' t understand me. I built Samba4 4.1.14 by the following way: - built each libs: talloc, tdb, tevent, ldb by configure -C --prefix=/usr/local/samba --enable-developer --bundled-libraries=NONE make make install built Samba4 in itself configure -C --enable-developer --enable-gnutls --enable-cups --enable-iprint --with-regedit

Error 'getpwuid(3000007) failed' is again. (Rowland penny)
What do you want to say that Samba4 can not operate as standalone server, only intend for DC ? Or there is other way to use Samba4 simply as filserver. Btw, I was able to use Samba4 as standalone server of 434 version. 2016-03-14 22:40 GMT+03:00 CpServiceSPb . <cpservicespb at gmail.com>: > Sorry. > But my gmail account ... > > > > 2016-03-14 22:34 GMT+03:00

Samba4 and 0.0.0.0:137 and 0.0.0.0:138 opened, why ? How do close it ?
Thanks for this answer. As I understood, for example if parameter bind interfaces only = yes is and interfaces = lan0 (192.168.0.254) is and if broadcast packet goes from 95.95.95.14 such packet will be dropped (in other words) ? Am I right ? And other thing. Why is 192.168.0.255 (network broadcast) opened for ? May be exact such address (network broadcast) is inbtended for receiving broadcasts

There is some, *may be*, off-top. If it is so, sorry. What should I put to my e-mail subject that my outgoing message shoud be sticked to either my or others existing topic ? Should it be *Re: [Samba] Topic name* or *[Samba] Topic name* or simply *Topic name* ?

Fwd: Functionality of Nmbd at Active Directory mode of Samba4 !
If my messages seems somehow unreadable - I sent it from Gmail Web UI. mathias dufresne, read my 2 or 3 last messages. I wrote about mounting \\server\share as disk and risky fo viruses crypting files. Also read messages other, who does not work in AirBus. And more over, it' s your oppinion. But I see useless of more discussion at atll. If you want to combine your efforts to help with

Samba4 and 0.0.0.0:137 and 0.0.0.0:138 opened, why ? How do close it ?
Hmmm, I founded some at https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba-technical/2012-July/085752.html As I saw these patches was already implemented. But is it possible to receive broadcast not to 0.0.0.0 but to x.y.z.255 ? This is network broadcast either. And opened 0.0.0.0 even with checking of source net is quite insecure from net security point of view. I think so. May be is it necessary to add

Especially acconuters... You as Russians can know it. I know some other soft where there is no such ability (access by \\server\folder) But can not remember it at the time. > That's simply not

As I understood it is 2nd case: > Or are there specified binaries where the libraries are builtin to, for examle: > --nonshared-binary=testparm, smbtorture, smbd and so on ? But in the case of binaries list, all binaries mentioned at the list will be linked statically with ALL libraries, not only 3 (in my case) . Samba4 and 0.0.0.0:137 and 0.0.0.0:138 opened, why ? How do close it ?
Rowland, as I you mentioned firstly, I have 3 faces: lo, lan, wan. And you are right, 0.0.0.0 are all IPs. I need only either listen to lo and lan or lan only, but not wan also. But in my case and because of 0.0.0.0 are all faces, listening 0.0.0.0 doesn' t equal lo and lan (127.0.0.1 and 192.168.0.254) . Yes, there is no 95.95.95.14 in netstat list, but 0.0.0.0 should cover and 95.95.95.14

Functionality of Nmbd at Active Directory mode of Samba4 !
P. p. S.: Oh, I have remember. Quite important thing. There are some soft where is not address line where you can put \\server\folder address to access or you can not get access resource via \\server\folder, it only via computer list. For example: Far. By typing \\server - there is error. Only: Alt+F1/F2, network, MS Windows Network, GroupName, CompName. If it is visible - Samba4 with Nmbd, it is

NetBios at AD DC mode ?
> Active Directory was created to replace netbios If you see 2008r2, 2012 and even 2016 and 2019 acted as AD DC but I think you saw it, it is (NetBios) still at a place here, despite on AD DC mode. As far as I know there are many small/medium LANs where NetBios features such as neighborhood, folders, printers sharing using NetBios names resolving and others are still used. In my opinion It

Setting up of Samba4 LDAP acting in standalone server mode
Is somehow possible to run Samba4 built-in LDAP if Samba4 acts as standalone server or in some of non AD DC mode ? Functionaling in AD DC mode is not suitable for me because of necesarity of neighborhood what officially is not supported at the moment for AD DC, as I know.

Functionality of Nmbd at Active Directory mode of Samba4 !
As I know runnig of Nmbd at Acitve Directory mode is quite unofficial now (but possible) . I will not ask why it is not reccomded to run Nmbd within Samba4 started at AD mode. But if somebody can tell, you are wellcome. But when nmb code implementation is planned to AD part ? That is when nmb functionnality adding to Samba4 acting as AD is planned ? To bring possibiity to use full-forced
