Samba 3.0.21 + PANIC: internal error + lib/fault.c
Hi, yesterday I compiled an installed samba 3.0.21 on a solaris 8 box (gcc 3.4.2). Since then I frequently see this error message in the log. separate config for dedicate user
Hello, I run samba 3.6 and I need to track problems for dedicated users. So I thought, I load at the end via include special configurations for the user separately. My question is, how does the smbd configure itself. Does smbd 1) reads the config completely and then it set the parameters in the process or 2) does smbd reads and set each parameter instantly? So can I use the following example?

converting .doc to html
Anyone got a preferred program or package for this? I'd like a *good* one, and Word or OO.o's save as html in no way qualifies as other than amateur crap. So far, with a little googling, I've found the wv package. wvHtml works, but I don't like the output - it insists on <div>, and on &rhquo instead of plain, simple ". mark "what, ask for an opinion in

[RE: why does parent.frame() cycle when called from inside capture.output()?]
Thanks, Mark - I'm taking up your invitation to forward your message to the list just because it gives us some valuable data on (1) how long the behavior has been around, and (2) how many other people (don't) understand the behavior, and (3) how we might fix or work around it. I notice some other people also seem to be diffident about posting on R-devel; perhaps I should conclude that

why does parent.frame() cycle when called from inside capture.output()?
Hello R devel/help, I ran into this strange behavior: # showstack is supposed to walk through the stack of parent # environments when it is called: showstack = function() { env = environment() for(i in 1:12) { env = do.call(parent.frame, list(), env=env) print(env) } } # a simple chain of functions: g3=function(t) showstack()

esthetics --- extending the lm command to fixed effects?
dear R wizards: not important. more a curiosity or esthetics question. is there a way to extend the standard lm command, so that it takes a new argument that handles fixed effects? right now, I have (provided to me from an expert---I would have never figured this one out): diffid <- function(h,id) { id <- as.factor(id)[, drop=TRUE] apply(as.matrix(h), 2, function(x) x

Problems exporting a PCI device to a domU...
Hi! I am trying to export a PCI device (an AVM Fritzcard PCI ISDN card...) to a domU but when starting my domU I am getting this error: "pciback pci-4-0: 22 Couldn''t locate PCI device (0000:00:06.0)! perhaps already in-use?" My system is running both debian etch in dom0 and domU... Below you can find (hopefully) all important information... Sincerely, Gaubatz Patrick

Wine on XFree 4.x?
How well does Wine work on any of the XFree 4.x servers? I looked for this information at WineHQ, but couldn't seem to find anything. Thanks in advance. -- Matthew Cline | Suppose you were an idiot. scriptaculous Move Vs. Scale and empty space
I''m not sure if this is the right forum for this but the sciptaculous wiki seems to be having some issues. I notice that if I use Effect.Scale() to scale down a div, then content form the parent div which, was wraping around, expands to fill in the empty space which is great. However, If I move a div with Effect.Move() the text does not fill the empty location. Nor does the content

looking for motherboard / temp / hdd monitor, other than lmsensors
Hi all What other good temp / motherboard / fan speed / HDD / etc monitor can I use on CentOS 5.1 (or even 5.2 - still need to upgrade)? R.bug.report (PR#315)

PG gem behaves strange. It requires live DB connection to only generate a model. How to turn it off?
I used MySQL as a backend before. Now I had to move to PG since Heroku doesn''t have MySQL and forces everyone to use their Heroku-PG database. But PG virsion of Rails works diffidently. I cannot generate a model without PG server running: >> C:\ruby\Heroku\App>rails generate model Products >> >> C:/RailsInstaller/Ruby1.9.3/lib/ruby/gems/1.9.1/gems/activerecord-

kernel parameters for improving gluster writes on millions of small writes (long)
This is a continuation of my previous posts about improving write perf when trapping millions of small writes to a gluster filesystem. I was able to improve write perf by ~30x by running STDOUT thru gzip to consolidate and reduce the output stream. Today, another similar problem, having to do with yet another bioinformatics program (which these days typically handle the 'short reads' that
