I added a private directory, but this did not fix the problem, and for some reason the other path still appears testparm -v | grep private Load smb config files from /opt/samba/etc/smb.conf Loaded services file OK. Weak crypto is allowed by GnuTLS (e.g. NTLM as a compatibility fallback) Server role: ROLE_ACTIVE_DIRECTORY_DC Press enter to see a dump of your service definitions private

here's the nuance, I just had to put this script in the samba folder, because after assembly I do not find it in the samba folders, although this script is in the source code, maybe I forgot to specify some keys before assembly, but I would like to understand how in this in the script, just hardcode the paths to the directories my path

DNS backend on samba4 nt4 style

In a word, *NO* A classic NT4 style domain does not have a DNS server built in, your server could use Bind9 or similar, but it wouldn't be part of samba. DNS failure
I came in this morning to a to a DNS failure. I think (could be wrong) that a kernel upgrade overnight is causing DNS to failure. Running "systemctl status samba-ad-dc.service" gives this: samba-ad-dc.service - Samba AD DC Loaded: loaded (/etc/systemd/system/samba-ad-dc.service; enabled; vendor preset: enabled) Active: failed (Result: exit-code) since Wed 2019-01-30 07:30:44 CST;

Apologies, despite that error, the permissions now look good on the sysvol folder. Is there anything I need to do moving forward to keep my DCs idmap.ldbs in sync? or is this a one time thing? After upgrade to 4.9.4, internal DNS no longer working
Then I don't know what caused it. I had no problems prior to the upgrade, and the upgrade was done without errors.. Unfortunately, no, I don't have backups. 'sam.ldb' is still there, though, and so are the databases unter 'sam.ldb.d'. Yes, I tried restarting Samba, even rebooted the server but to no avail. Here are the results from running samba in the shell: lpcfg_load:

After upgrade to 4.9.4, internal DNS no longer working
Oh, that doesn't sound good... Arch Linux. I did a regular system upgrade using pacman -Syu which automatically upgrades all packages to their latest version. I have another, practically identical system and I didn't have this issue there. Though I might have had a smaller jump between versions. How to switch from internal DNS to Bind
Hello, I'm attempting to switch from the internal DNS to Bind. This is for my Samba test environment on a VM running Samba 4.3.1 on Ubuntu server 12.04.1. Installed Samba using all the defaults. ./configure make make install Pulled up the wiki link https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Changing_the_DNS_backend#Changing_from_Samba_Internal_DNS_to_BIND_DLZ Not sure if this is the correct

Migration from samba_dsdb to tdbsam.
While trying to resolve the loss of prefix for full_audit, I attempted to update from Samba 4.3.9 to 4.4.5. Its a very simple environment, standalone server running on i386 built from source. After performing the build and installation, I was informed that passdb backend = samba_dsdb was no longer supported, so I commented out the line, to find which default I should use. testparm advises it

Switching to Bind from Samba Internal
Rowland, Thanks for the reply. I believe you're right. It appears the zone information is retrieved from '/usr/local/samba/private/named.conf'? Correct? I notice I do not have 'named.conf'. I have 'named.conf.update'. On 12/16/2014 9:21 AM, Rowland Penny wrote: > On 16/12/14 13:54, James wrote: >> Hello, >> >> Looking to switch to Bind.
