Multiple domain browselist over a wanlink
Hi, I'm trying to generate a multiple domain browselist but I don't get it to work. I've tried everyting by the book but the result is always the same: I can see the other workgroup(s) but they are empty. Currently I've added the following rules to the smb.conf remote browse sync = 192.168.2.2 192.168.2.4 remote announce = 192.168.2.2 192.168.2.4 As far as I understand

Classic upgrade and member servers
All, I'm migrating a samba3 domain to a new samba4 AD implementation. The samba3 domain is at the top level corp.com, and after having read the naming FAQ we decided to create ad.corp.com for Samba4. We're doing a test migration and so far things are going well. Part of test is migration of old samba servers, which involves joining them to AD, which creates a DNS record under

Migrate samba3.5 classic domain to Windows2008R2
I have a Samba 3.5.20 domain controller that provides logins and profiles for our Windows XP computer labs on campus. In earlier testing, we encountered performance issues with Windows 7 logins. Although that has now been resolved, management is discourged from continuing to use Samba as a domain controller. I have now been tasked with migrating our classic academic domain to Windows 2008R2

Problem with Classic-Migration and Sernet Samba4 Packages
Hi, I'm testing an classic migration from samba3/openldap to samba4 on debian wheezy. Last time i did this i used an self compiled samba4 installation. I followed the howto and used openldap with an cloned db on my new server. Now I try the same with sernet's samba4 packages. But sernet-samba-ad does already provide ldap and slapd services and also has ldap-server and slapd in

leaving a domain?
Hi! I joined a newly installed samba (4.20.1) server to a domain, - just testing things. Now I want to remove this test server from a domain, but I can't: root at svdcm2:/# samba-tool domain leave -U tls\\mjt-adm WARNING: Using passwords on command line is insecure. Installing the setproctitle python module will hide these from shortly after program start. Password for [TLS\mjt-adm]:

OpenLDAP proxy to samba4 AD
I greatly appreciate the answers. Are of great value to me and to others who like me do not have much experience. Another question. :D I believe that we will use debian as distribution for the new Samba4. What I need to copy from the old to the new distro? Machine per machine classic upgrade
We run a samba3 NT domain with quite 300 machine out of our administrative domain (in order to do any operation on them we have to file a request to a different department). We would like to switch to a fully samba4 AD domain with no client machine interaction. We would prefer to test samba4 AD settings in advance. Migrating users is no problem (lsc-project.org works fine). Can migration be

classic upgrade sort of succeeds but really fails - Advice?
Hi, I am stuck in a bad place and I'm not sure where to go next. I'd sure appreciate some advice or direct help in troubleshooting this problem. If I can provide additional information I'd be happy to send it along privately. Some logs are very large - like the debuglevel 10 classicupgrade output is about 160MB. But there is Dropbox, right? I've included what I could think of

samba-tool classic upgrade - Next rid problem
Hi there, I am trying to upgrade my old Samba3 (with LDAP backend) to Samba 4. I am doing this on a test VM for now as a proof of concept. When running this command: /usr/local/samba/bin/samba-tool domain classicupgrade --dbdir=/home/administrator/samba3/ --use-xattrs=yes --realm=internal.com /home/administrator/samba3/smb.conf I get this: Reading smb.conf Provisioning Exporting account
