rodc and KRB_TGS_REQ forwarding to RWDC to access hub ressources
Hi, If you don't make much progress on your own, one thing you could do is turn up the logging level and send in some logs and network traces (and the steps you took). This is usually the easiest way to diagnose any obvious issues and gives a much better sense of what is actually happening. One other thing is that we generally recommend against .LOCAL domains although I would have no

rodc and KRB_TGS_REQ forwarding to RWDC to access hub ressources
Hi, As far I know, all this should work as you would expect. Quite recently, Andrew Bartlett and I went about testing some of the behaviour of the KDC and confirming behaviour such as RODC ticket forwarding. The one thing to check would be whether or not Samba is being linked against system Heimdal. As it stands, there is no real testing of Samba using system Heimdal and from the testing

How to tell a machine is properly joined to a domain?
I have been using 'net ads testjoin' but the issue is it seems to ask for a password when the box is not joined to a domain (even if I specify '-U username%pass'). This *seems* like a bug - I would expect it to pass or fail using the creds passed in. Is this by design and if so, why? Is there a better alternative? ('net ads info'?) -aps

Able to join Samba client as MEMBER server to Windows 2008 R2 RWDC but not to RODC
I'm trying to join a RHEL 5 client to a Windows 2008 R2 AD, I've tried both Samba 3.6.6 and 4.0.2. When pointing the client to a RWDC(wegsfes19123) I'm able to successfully join the client: [root at vm-ae67a ~]# net ads join -U Administrator -d1 -Swegsfes19123 ... libnet_Join: libnet_JoinCtx: struct libnet_JoinCtx out: struct libnet_JoinCtx account_name

content of sam.ldb vs sam.ldb.d/DC=MYDOMAIN,DC=LAN
Hi everyone, I am wondering what is the difference between the content in sam.ldb and sam.ldb.d/DC=MYDOMAIN,DC=LAN. In the two file I have my user entry: # ldbsearch -H /usr/local/samba/private/sam.ldb.d/DC\=TRANQUILIT\,DC\=LOCAL.ldb | grep dn | grep CN=dcardon dn: CN=dcardon,CN=Users,DC=tranquilit,DC=local # ldbsearch -H /usr/local/samba/private/sam.ldb | grep dn | grep CN=dcardon dn:

RHEL7/Centos7 with Samba AD
Hi All, I know RHEL has bad press here but I'd like to share a different opinion (works for me) and maybe share some of my settings. BTW, Those views are my own, not those of my employer. I run a small AD at home. The setup is as follows: - two AD DCs (RHEL7.6 KVM virtual machines + Samba 4.8.7 rpms based on SPECs from TranquilIT/Fedora). - several Win10 laptops joined to the domain. -

AD: Using SyncThing for sysvol replication
Hi, did anybody try this already? Seems to be the easiest to set up, esp. when more than two DC's are involved. Bye... User Permissions issue
Hi Denis I have upgraded my samba DC-1 from 4.6.12 to 4.7.4 which has solved the replication issues between DC-1 and DC-2. Now both the DC's are running on 4.7.4. Like Rowland said previously, you should remove all RODC that have been installed prior to Samba 4.7. There are many fixes that have been added since 4.6. Before I remove my RODC's I like to clear out few doubts: 1. Instead of

machine account on RODC
Hello everybody, if I set up a RODC in a different site with an own subnet do I have to replicate the machine-passwords with "samba-tool rodc reload host\$ --server=addc"? Or can a machine always authenticate against a RODC? Greetings Stefan -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed...
