Error in man page
A few months ago I reported an error on a Samba man page available online. The error is still there. Can someone with the appropriate privileges correct it? Thank you. "vfs_shadow_copy - Make a Samba share read only for a specified time period" This is obviously wrong. The error is present in the following pages: https://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man/manpages/

compile samba v3.0.9 vfs-errors
Hello NG, found a thread with almost my current problem. There wasn't any solution out there. Maybe anything has changed? I want install samba v3.0.9 on an old rh linux v7.1. Currently there's no chance to update the core system. But while compiling it breaks with many "vfs"-errors as shown below: ..SNIP.. modules/vfs_shadow_copy.po(.text+0x6e2): undefined reference to

The Recycled PIDs Fix
** Low Priority ** Hi Volker, This is regarding your fix on recycled PIDs. I am an NCP developer from Novell and we use libsmbsharemodes library from Samba for Cross Protocols Locks between NCP, Samba and others. I have few queries regarding your fix. In your fix, you have added a new field called 'unique_id' in the server_id structure and we need to pass this in our call to samba

how to add new vfs module to build...
Hi, I'm working with version 4.1.6 to create a new VFS module. I've been experimenting by just modifying one of the existing module source files (vfs_full_audit.c) and that rebuilds as expected. I want to step back now and create a unique module name, but I'm having trouble getting it to be included in the build. Using vfs_full_audit.c as my example, I've added entries into

samba w/vfs notify_fam perf hit of 25% on writes noticed...?
I was running some benchmarks and trying to tune speed between a samba 3.6.22 server and win7. My primary benchmark is using 'dd' on windows to read/write to device files in my home directory to eliminate effects of disk latency. So for reads, I transfer from h:/zero and for writes I write to h:/null. Where h: is my unix home dir. (for the other end of the transfer, I use /dev/null and

NT_STATUS_NO_MEMORY when browsing file server on Belkin modem
Hello, Can someone help me to track down the source of this problem? I'm trying to access a file server running on a Belkin modem with an attached USB drive. Judging my the quality of the firmware on the device, I'd say there's a good chance of it being buggy. But it works well enough on a Windows machine, even one running inside Virtualbox under Linux. I therefore see no reason

samba 3.3.x vfs_acl_xattr support
>From samba 3.3.0 release notes, it seems like samba 3.3.x is at least experimenting using xattr to store NT ACL, which can eventually provide better NT ACL support. I tried similar features with samba 4.0.0 alpha6, which works very nice. Is there any plan to provide same level of NT ACL support with samba 3.3.x? If there is such plan, any targeted date for that? Thanks, Ying
