ERROR_DNS_UPDATE_FAILED and NT_STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL
Once again, Bob is in 'the land of unknown bind knowledge.' What type of data am I adding? Shouldn't dns_update be run when adding the member server? Is this a "simple-bind-dn"? hum-m-m-m! --- ------------------------- Bob Wooden of Donelson Trophy 615.885.2846 (main) www.donelsontrophy.com [1] "Everyone deserves an award!!" On 2015-02-08 02:56,

ERROR_DNS_UPDATE_FAILED and NT_STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL
Okay!!! My member server ip address is 192.168.**.56 (static). When I run your command it is reporting the ip address of 192.168.**.55 (which is my DC02 address.) So, I need to correct this. How do I remove the 'old member server' ip address 192.168.**.55 reference and correct to 192.168.**.56? --- ------------------------- Bob Wooden of Donelson Trophy 615.885.2846 (main)

W7 client cannot adjust file permissions via ADUC
Hi bob, Yes, i have corrected the script online. I replaced the %USERNAME with %U in the old member script, and please dont give the user DOMAIN\Administrator any uid. not 0, nothing.. .no uid.. My best advice, leave Administrator as is and create a new user.. Add that one in "Domain Admins" and that user can have a uid. For setting the rights. Use setfacl to set the base

Samba4 - Corrupted group caused stop of replication - "Object class violation"
Hi Andrew, Thanks for your reply. We tried successfully the --full-sync option from first to second DC. Unfortunately, afterwards the second DC was still in a corrupted state. The "Deleted Objects" still contained the ugly groups with the missing attribute... So we achieved to get a successfull replication after editing the "deleted objects" with ldbedit. We have deleted

Rowland, The email here is a little crazy at the moment. Your reply to my email sent this morning (7 or 8 hours ago) just popped up. And this is since you I have emailed some more confusion. This thread is on HOLD UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. Let's let the email world settle down. I am currently receiving emails from this morning and I am confused. And let get my head around all that we have

getting NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE
I have been having issues with my W7 client "access is denied" to changing the security (user permissions) settings and have been posting regarding that issue yesterday. I have discovered that my "ads join member server" is not completely joined (I think.) I discovered a post from February 2014, by Louis "[Samba] member joined, but . . ." and ran some of his

getting permissions denied on home folders
I have a fresh Debian based Samba server and Member server setup. I have configured profiles and they appear to be saving properly to the member server. When I attempt to adjust file permissions (as instructed by the Sambawiki page "Samba & Windows Profiles") I am getting "Access Denied" complaints. These I believe (I could be wrong) relate to the file permissions

NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_REFUSED, again!!!
Thanks Rowland but that idea did not work. I will simply grant access to those that failed manually. (Really wish I had kept the VM that the scripthad worked on so I could go back and see what happened but, too late, I have already deleted to save precious hard drive space.) If I have any issues, I'll be back. --- ------------------------- Bob Wooden of Donelson Trophy 615.885.2846

NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_REFUSED, again!!!
At one point, I thought the same. Tried a "sleep 5" and still got some failures. (That was before I started counting the fails.) This is a P4 3.2Ghz with 1Gb RAM. Could it be that sluggish (at that moment) and need a "sleep 10" or "sleep 15" or more? It worked on my VM (of course it is running on a multi-core Xeon processor so maybe a sleep?) I'm going to try

NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_REFUSED, again!!!
No. What I did was change the first few to see what happens. And still the first 13 (this time, last time 17) failed. I am baffled why the first 11 to 17 fail (randomly) and the remainder receive "Successfully granted rights." --- ------------------------- Bob Wooden of Donelson Trophy 615.885.2846 (main) www.donelsontrophy.com [1] "Everyone deserves an award!!" SOLVED Re: ntpq -p ***Request timed out
Thank you, Rowland. Copied your simpler ntp.conf file into my member server. Made the appropriate changes. Restarted all the ntp service on all machines (just in case.) Ran 'ntpq -p' (on member server) and got the correct answer. Proper connection to DC's. --- ------------------------- Bob Wooden of Donelson Trophy 615.885.2846 (main) www.donelsontrophy.com [1] "Everyone
