Debian Stretch, Samba 4.10.2, 4.9.6 and 4.8.11 Available (amd64/i386)
ow ow .. slapping myself.. I forgot my note about the VERSION file..
That you see this : Version 4.10.2-Ubuntu
is because i use a Ubuntu as base for the 4.10 builds.
I'll correct that, but there is no difference in the packages once this is corrected back to Version 4.10.2-Debian.
It just a "version-name"

Debian Stretch, Samba 4.10.2, 4.9.6 and 4.8.11 Available (amd64/i386)
Hi,
short question - when running "samba -V" I recieve a version of:
Version 4.10.2-Ubuntu
But my OS running is Debain 9.8 (stretch) amd64.
My entry within sources.list is:
deb http://apt.van-belle.nl/debian stretch-samba410 main contrib non-free
Is this correct / wanted behavior (that version reporting back is 'Ubuntu'
even for debian)?
I think within the last version

samba-tool backup offline not available (version 4.9.6) ?
Hello,
I've just upgraded to 4.9.6 and can't seem to be able to use the
'offline' backup? It seems that the only options are: online, rename,
and backup.
Can someone confirm this?
I plan to get to migrating to 4.10.2, but I'm doing it incrementally:
v4.7.6 -> v4.8.11 -> v4.9.6 -> v4.10.2
Before going to the v4.10.2, I want to backup my AD database using

chown: changing ownership of 'test': Invalid argument
Hai Ian,
Can you run my setup debugger..
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/thctlo/samba4/master/samba-collect-debug-info.sh
Anonimize where needed and post output.
Because when i run this, it works fine.
chown -v username test-own.txt
changed ownership of 'test-own.txt' from root to username
And yes, this user only exist in AD.
Check if attr and acl are installed also.

Error with dbcheck after upgrade to 4.10.2
Hi Louis and others,
While I cannot speak for the GP, I've had this same problem since I
recently (finally!) upgraded to Samba 4.8 (4.8.11). In fact, the very
reason I wanted to run dbcheck for was to confirm that Samba still works
correctly after upgrading (it does seem to replicate normally, anyway).[1]
I've configured Samba with the following switches:
--enable-debug --enable-selftest
