Compile Samba without AD/ADS for a slim installation
I am trying to compile samba4 for a raspberry pi. I just want it to be able to share a folder of files. I do not need or want all the functionality and features of a full blown samba installation. This i s on Arch and it is an armv6 raspberry. I have some partial instructions for compiling without ad-dc and ads but keep getting a failed build. I have been grepping all over and I have been unable

samba 4.6.12. users can't delete files
Hi all, I'm running a small (50 users) AD with an AD-DC and a Domain Member as the file server. Both running debian Stretch and self-compiled samba 4.6.12. Bind as DNS. Multiple shares configured using windows ACLs. All work as expected except for User Home Folders (https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/User_Home_Folders). I've created a folder for each user under samba_homes/ and gave full

Samba 4.7.x IOWAIT / load average
Hi, I want to report a strange problem with samba 4.7.x and IO wait / CPU usage. I am using linux (archlinux, kernel 4.14.2) and encounter a very strange bug with only samba 4.7.x (from 4.7.0 to last 4.7.4). With these versions CPU usage and IO WAIT is very high with a single CIFS client with very low transfert (about 1MB/s). I rollback to 4.6.9 to 4.6.12 and no problem with these versions.

Username/Group "-1" ?
(new thread to maybe get some readers/replies) I am still trying to fix an issue on a samba-4.6.12 Domain Member Server (in a domain with 2 DCs running 4.6.12 as well) Today again all sessions on the fileserver stopped working and the admin rebooted the server. Before that he monitored "smbstatus" and noticed that right before the failing smbd-sessions there were sessions listed like:

RODC and LDAP via Simple Authentication fails
Hi Andrew, I am deeply impressed by your speed! :D The RODC is actually Samba 4.7.4, the other DCs are still on 4.6.12. Any suggestion how I can debug this w/o setting everything on level 10? ;) Best regards Johannes Am 22.01.2018 um 20:45 schrieb Andrew Bartlett: > On Mon, 2018-01-22 at 20:36 +0100, Johannes Engel via samba wrote: >> Dear all, >> >> setting up a DMZ

ERROR: Duplicate link values for attribute 'member'
I updated two AD DCs from version 4.6.12 to 4.7.4. Before the update, both "samba-tool dbcheck" and "samba-tool --cross-ncs" gave no errors. After updating, all seems well, including replication, except for this error when running the above commands (private info sanitized): ERROR: Duplicate link values for attribute 'member' in

Samba 4.7.x IOWAIT / load average
Hi, I found the problem ! It was the params "strict sync" which is default to "Yes" on 4.7.x and "No" on 4.6.x and previous. When i force to "strict sync = no" in my config file, no more abnormal load average. is this normal to default to "yes" on 4.7.x ?
