Tinc doesn't respond in Windows XP.
I am novice using tinc. I followed step by step the sample reported in
http://tinc.nl.linux.org/examples/windows-install
I have the following in my home (Win XP with tinc-1.0.1-install.exe):

C:\Program Files\tinc\vpn>type tinc.conf
AddressFamily = ipv4
Name = home

I have been having some problems setting up tinc on 2 masquerading linux slackware boxes.

Fwd: Error during key creation
Hi all,
I'm trying to setup tinc on 2 VPSs following this guide:
https://www.linode.com/docs/networking/vpn/how-to-set-up-tinc-peer-to-peer-vpn/
They are of the same type with Ubuntu 18.04.
On the the first one, I have manually built and installed tinc without an
issue (v.1.0.36).
On the second one, I've installed tinc from the repo (v.1.0.33), then
removed it and then built it and

Hi all, I'm following the manual but I get the below error, and I
believe tinc is clobbering my conf file.
I've never set up VPN before, I'm just trying to connect to my work
network from home. All the following is on my work computer. Thanks in

Check public/private RSA keypairs
Hi together,
i have a tinc vpn running on several local networks as well as on
clients and am writing on a little "zeroconfig" tool to add new (newbie)
clients to the net without having to vnc to them for ages.
To do this easier, i wanted to have a possibility to check somehow if
the public key stored on the server mathes the provate key on the
client, or if it needs to be regenerated.

Direct connections between nodes are in the same LAN (behind common NAT)
Hi
I'm trying to implement a scheme in which the nodes will have a direct UDP tunnel to each other.
First, all nodes make connection with one public node, and then make connections with each other.
And I came across the following problem:
Remotely located nodes can establish a direct UDP connection, but the nodes that are in the same local network can not, and all traffic goes through the

Tinc on MacOs X
My intention is to set up tinc so that I can connect from home to an
office network. All CPUs are running MacOs X, 10.2.8 or 10.3.5.
I have read the tinc manual, tincd.8 and tinc.conf.5. However, I am
still unclear about a few issues.
First and foremost, how to I setup the VPN interfaces on the hosts,
on MacOs X? Which file do I have to alter and what is the exact
syntax on Os X to setup

Installation: error message when generating the keys..
hi I don't have experience at all with networks but I was triyng to install and configure tinc as a platform for multiplayer games that need to be run on a LAN.
The computers run with Windows XP so I followed the example posted in the website for installation in windows.
Everything is pretty clear and step-by-step, but when trying to generate the keys I get the following message:

Crisis averted. Turns out I have another local host whose public key is
known by my remote hosts. So I can use this 2nd local host to update
host_on_existing_net's public key on the remote hosts and all should be

Trouble adding 2nd vpn
So I am attempting to add a 2nd vpn to my existing setup and for some reason
I can't seem to get it to work quite right.
The issue I'm having right now is successful execution of the tinc-up
script. It's probably something obvious but after several days I still
don't see what I'm missing. I can see in syslog that
"Script tinc-up exited with non-zero status 1"

(Second try to send this. I wonder if the first one gotten eaten by a
spam filter; I'll link to patches instead of attaching them.)
Here are the tincctl patches I've been working on. They apply to
http://www.tinc-vpn.org/svn/tinc/branches/1.1@1545. I intend to commit
them once the crypto stuff's fixed. Since they're basically done, I'm
emailing them now for review and in case

NetworkManager and tinc
tinc has been really useful for us, and so the other day I blogged about
tinc as a way of saying thank-you,
http://blogs.operationaldynamics.com/andrew/software/research/using-tinc-vpn.html
Somewhat innocuously, I closed with reference to NetworkManager; having
used it with openvpn and been very impressed with the experience (not
the openvpn part, but the fact that GNOME's networking UI made

stand-alone dials in to office via isdn
Hi all,
i think my problem is trivial, but i don't get this thing done ...
In our office a linux-box ("gw") is connected like this:
- via eth0 to the local net (192.168.1.0/24)
- via eth1 to the DSL-router (dynamic ip)
- via ippp0 (isdn-card) 192.168.2.245 to the stand-alone pc
192.168.2.250 ("single")
"single" is a w2k box and have an isdn-card, too and is

tinc configuration question
This is a follow-up on my previous post:
http://www.tinc-vpn.org/pipermail/tinc/2008-September/001759.html
After being able to build tinc from source on FC8, I have stumbled upon
some configuration issue. My tinc daemon is configured as follows:
[root at optiplex060 crc_idb1]# pwd
/usr/local/etc/tinc/crc_idb1
[root at optiplex060 crc_idb1]# ls -l

Hello folks,
I have the following problem: tincd is complaining about a missing name or so but i cannot find any mistake in the configuration. It is similar to all my other tinc nodes. here are the details:
