Tinc on Linux and tap device problem
Hello, I successfully set up a tunnel with tinc using the tun interface. however I need a tap device, because I need to run the OLSR routing protocol on the tunnel and if I use the tun mode OLSR will just skip the interface. (It is a well known thing, I had this issue before also when using OpenVPN in the past). The problem is that I cannot make tinc use a tap device. I created the tap0

tincd without root privileges
hey, is there a way to run tinc on a (linux) box, with a public ip, but on which i don't have root privileges ? the server just connects nodes (behind natted firewall) & relays their traffic, so no need for tap/tun interface on the box itself. ptr_ -- http://www.L45.be/voidpointer 0493 52 5009

controlling VM access to different tap devices
Sorry if this off-topic but I have a qemu related question I was going to send to the qemu users mailing list but that list appears to have vanished. I thought this community might have some insight. I am interested in controlling VM access to different tap devices so I want to have different qemu processes bound to different tun devices. I've created new tun devices (eg. /dev/net/tun_low)

Hi, some questions or wishes.. - i have some nodes with a dynamic ip, how does tinc handle this? are there keep alive pings? - if i want to force a reconnect (for example if an ip changes), i tried kill -ALRM kill -HUP but there were no reconnects, yes the manpage tells it, but a reconnect would be nice. - it is very important to me, that the interface does not go down. - when will tinc 2

Forget about tinc. I won't work until you solve issue with your kernel. Tinc inside docker
I'm trying to run tinc inside a docker container. The only way to run it at the moment is giving the container full privileges which makes me uneasy. When I tried to specifically give docker only access to /dev/net/tun I get a message Error while reading from Linux tun/tap device (tun mode) /dev/net/tun: File descriptor in bad state Does tinc or tun require access to any other devices?
