Any way to run tinc on MikroTik routers?
Hello, Please excuse my (probably newbie) question, but: Since RouterOS, MikroTik's proprietary OS, is largely based on GNU/Linux, anyone knows a way to run tinc on a MikroTik device? This would be in order to make an (imposed, no choice given...) MikroTik device (say the B1100AHX4 router) to participate in a tinc mesh, in interoperation with GNU/Linux machines. Please see:

Any way to run tinc on MikroTik routers?
*hvjunk said:* > Get a RPi (or faster/cheaper/equivalent), and bridge it into the Mikrotik………. Unfortunately, I don't think this is an option (even if I may put there a full PC, not only a Raspberry Pi), for a few reasons: - what I'm trying to achieve is to substitute MikroTik's native L2TP/IPSec tunnels with tinc, not to have TWO tunnels - supposing I have two different tunnels

Indirect routing issue?
Hi there, I am experiencing an annoying but not critical issue with (I think) tinc's internal routing. My setup is this: HostA (local. ConnectTo = HostC) HostB (geographically close. ConnectTo = HostC) HostC (far away. ConnectTo = nothing) Without tinc, pings from HostA to HostB take around 10ms, and from HostA/B to HostC around 200ms. With tinc, pings from HostA to HostB take nearly

A FAQ: is it mandatory to include the local IP address classes in the global VPN address class?
Hello, Since the present tinc documentation is not very clear about this, please explain the following: is it mandatory to include the local IP address classes in the global VPN address class? Namely, please consider the following setup (which works great in practice): 1. A tinc VPN, full mesh, with n nodes (n > 3) 2. tinc runs on the firewall, which is also the default gateway for each

tinc 1.1pre10 "failed to decrypt record" on Windows client
Tinc newbie here so apologies if this is obvious or has been discussed already; I did search but couldn't find anything. I'm testing tinc 1.1pre10 between a Windows 7 client and Linux server. The Linux machine is on the internet and the Windows machine is on my home network behind NAT. I have successfully configured a Linux client on my home network to communicate with the server

Bugs related to tinc's initialization in systemd
Hello all, For your information, below are some "bugs" (possible optimizations?), all related, for tinc's initialization in systemd. Since both RedHat and Debian recent distros have switched to systemd,**please** make sure that a solid initialization mechanism is included in precompiled .rpm and .deb packages (CentOS, Debian, Fedora, etc.)

Tinc + OSPF - is it feasible?
Hello, Please tell me if it's possible to use tinc together with OSPF (instead of static routes in LAN). By OSPF I mean Quagga's GNU/Linux daemon. Namely, I have a group of LANs (private 192.168.x.0/24 each). Each LAN has a GNU/Linux default gateway, 192.168.x.1, that also connects to the Internet via a public IP address (does NAT and firewall for the LAN "behind" it). tinc

Why is wine not prepackaged on the download site
the reason that the x11 for macintosh being broken is insufficient as a cause for not having a package on the download site. the darwine source cvs repository does not carry a version on it. i personally cannot compile the source for my computer. i can install xfree86, though. if this fixes the x11 problem, considering that most people can achieve this, should there not be updated packages along

tinc initialization (in both Red Hat and Debian families)
Hello all, Thank you for tinc, that is an **excellent** and useful package! Taking into account that both Red Hat and Debian (8.x) families now use systemd, there is, IMHO, one small. but important correction to be done: tinc's initialization. IMHO, we need: 1. A proper tinc.service file, included by default (prepackaged) in the stock .deb and .rpm packages in Fedora, Debian, Ubuntu,

tinc initialization (in both Red Hat and Debian families)
Would it not make more sense to have this on packagers responsiblity instead like you were saying adding it into the upstream repo. Maybe have a secondary repo that people can contribute to for distribution specific files and install scripts. Forcibly emptying a POP3 mailbox
Hello, I've recently saw a discussion on this list, about a standardised way of emptying POP3 mailboxes on the server - but no solution came up. Please provide a suggestion for the following situation: - I am running a stock POP3 dovecot server, on Fedora 12 (dovecot version 1.2.9) - passwd-file authentication via /etc/imap.passwd - users are virtual, sharing the same UID/GID; -

nss_winbind problem
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Well, I think this is not the only time you guys ever seen that kind of mails. First of all, I did checked all that is to be checked before writing to list. wbinfo -u and wbinfo -g work flawless. Also wbinfo -a, so I can authenticate without problems. The setup is a normal trust setup where domain X (my domain) trusts domain Y (another company).

Using glusterfs with an export directory on an non-POSIX attr enabled FS
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Dear all, I am trying to setup a replicated volume to serve (in a load-balanced setup) static content. Since we are talking about small sized files (thumbnails) that do not take too much space, one ideea is to set that up in RAM (using /dev/shm mountpoint on CentOS). The main problem is that if I define a replicated volume using glusterfs, and I
