[Bridge] VLAN translation + PVST+
Hello, I am creating a configuration where a Redhat server running
bridge-tools 0.9.5 will be bridging between different VLANs on the same
physical interface (for example: a bridge consisting of eth1.100 and
eth1.110). This physical interface is being connected to modern Cisco
switches running PVST+.
The Cisco switch does not like this configuration as the tags on its
BPDUs are being changed

lc shaping in- and outbound traffic on same box
I''m looking for a way to shape all traffic on a virtual vlan interface,
say eth1.100 to a max of 100mbit. The box is a quagga router with eth0
on the inside and vlan interfaces on the eth1 card to our upstream
partners. Each partner has his own vlan on eth1.
I tried shaping but was only able to shape outbound traffic on the
eth1.100 interface. Inbound shaping was also possible, but

Bridging multiple vlans on linux router
Hi,
I have a situation where router has to see hosts in multiple vlans
with the same IP address
The test scenario is :
---------------------
| eth0 | br0 | <-------> eth1.25 | eth1.26 | eth1.27
---------------------
eth0 = Internet
br0 = Lan 192.168.100.1/24
host 1= 192.168.100.11/24 eth1.25
host 2= 192.168.100.12/24 eth1.26
I need br0 to see all hosts in all vlans

Shorewall and VLANs (802.1q)
My actual scenario is:
-Hundreds PCs in a internal network (fixed IP), divided in +- 6 different
subnets
-A +- 6 customers with leased lines
-A Cisco Catalyst 4006 connecting groups of PCs to corresponding customers
(imagine a Call Center company)
-Works fine.
The problem:
Frequently, it''s necessary to migrate dozens PCs from a customer to
another. You know, change all IPs and

CentOS, Xen and VLANs
I ran into an issue when trying to create VMs in CentOS 5.5 with VLANs. My
setup is as follows:
-CentOS 5.5 x64 xen kernel
-LVM for storage
-Kickstart file hosted on apache in /var/www/html/
-VM start file in /etc/xen/
-VLAN100 interface with public IP, VLAN200 interface with private IP
My vm start file is as follows:
kernel = "/boot/vm-inst/vmlinuz"

How to work with VLANs and several nic Interfaces ?
Hi all,
I have xen2.0.7 running in a fedora core 3 !
I have dom0 and domU running fine and communicating between each other as
well between other machines on diferent networks.
Still i want to improve my network setup and i start reading manuals and
malling lists about bridging and vlans configuration!

Eth0 -> Vlan A

VLANs with Xen - work with 1 Gbit, doesn''t with 100 Mbit cards?
I have a strange problem with VLANs with Xen 3.0.4. I signalled it on
Xen-users list, but found no definitive solution to it.
I configure VLANs so that they are available in dom0; domUs don''t know
that they use VLANs.
I use a stock "network-bridge" comming from Xen for setting up networking:
#!/bin/bash
dir=$(dirname "$0")
"$dir/network-bridge"

KVM: Vlans not working with vlan hw rx acceleration
Hi,
Setup info:
(a) Using RHEL6 kvm. (b) Loaded driver on RHEL6 setup.
(c) Created 2 bridges on top of two interfaces.
(d) Assigned these bridges to 2 VMs.
(e) Created vlans in VMs.
Problem:
When vlan acceleration support is enabled in driver, traffic stops b/w VMs on vlan interfaces inside virtual m/c.
Without, vlan acceleration, everything works fine.
Thanks,
Sucheta.

VLANs with Open vSwitch in libvirt 0.10.1
Hello all, I'm trying to take advantage of libvirt's VLAN and OVS support in the 0.10.1 release and consistently getting an "error: internal error corrupted profileid string" when starting a guest.
I've defined a network using virsh; the configuration looks like this:
<network>
<name>ovs-network</name>

Polycom VLANs
So has anyone had any experience working with the polycom 501 or 301 and
vlans?
We run dell managed switches here, so we don't have the luxury of running
CDP to force the VOIP vlan. I haven't been able to get the polycom phones to
talk on a manually set vlan. I have some junky sipura phones that work
fine-(get dhcp, register to asterisk etc) when i manually set them to vlan4.
Any advice

VLANs and Quality
Hi all
How much does configuring a network with VLANs improve or effect quality ?
Is there much reason to justify the configuration of VLANs ( I know
networking, but not VLANs at all)
Would it not be better to find high traffic users and determine why?
Your Thoughts
Thanks

Bonds, VLANs, and Bridges on Centos 5.6
Running on Centos 5.6 with KVM...
I was wondering if anyone had any luck configuring the NICs where eth0 and eth1 are bonded together with vlan support to a bridge?
I noticed some threads show this as a possibility (http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos-virt/2009-November/001417.html), but haven't had any luck implementing it. There also seems to be a bug with 5.6

Postfix on VLANs
Hi All,
I'm having some problems getting postfix to relay mail. I'd
appreciate any tips. Perhaps there are some settings which I may have
missed, somewhere.
The postfix mail server is on VLAN 250 (192.168.250.0) whilst I have
several other users on other VLANs (e.g. 91, 92, 93, etc...
192.168.91.0, 192.168.92.0, 192.168.93.0, etc...).
So, if I had a PC sitting on VLAN 91 with IP

FreeRadius + Dynamic VLANs/802.1x Authentication
Has anyone setup FreeRadius to do automatic VLAN assignments on their
switches based on client mac addresses? If so, would you be willing
to share your radius configs? I haven't touched radius since mid 90's
and am stuck trying to get this to work. It would be much
appreciated.
thanks
