Having more info, like the ip address of the vpn nodes in the xdot graph file of tinc
Hello Guus, is there a .deb somewhere for tinc 1.1 and ubuntu 15.10 available / instruction on howto build .deb files for ubuntu ? Then I could put something together with python or the shell, inotify of the tinc graph file and tinc info. Thanks+ BR Max. > On Fri, Jan 22, 2016 at 02:12:20PM +0100, Maximilian H. wrote: > >> I am using tinc's feature to dump a graph of the

Hi Maximilian, > is there a .deb somewhere for tinc 1.1 and ubuntu 15.10 available / > instruction on howto build .deb files for ubuntu ? the Debian package maintainer already prepared a 1.1 package in the experimental suite: https://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=tinc You can download it there for your architecture. The package will probably work on your ubuntu system as well - but

improve MTU probe performance
Hi all I try to use tinc within my network, but I find almost all mtu probe take 30 times to fix, it's never really fix at all. after read code, i think the problem case by function receive_udppacket(); and line : origin -= MTU / 64 + 20; here , MTU / 64 + 20 =43, this means, every time we send a mtu probe packet, we get a reply smaller then what we send. review the commit log, the line

You should not need to have two tinc daemons just because you have a WAN and a LAN interface. By default (ie, if you don't specify BindToAddress and/or BindToInterface), tinc listens on all interfaces,

4 questions about tinc's VPN
Hi there! I'm totally new to the concept 'self-made VPNs' :P I've discovered tinc and I think it's not as easy as hamachi, but not so hard as OpenVPN :D Now: I've got 4 questions: question n.1: I'm behind a router. This router is configurable, but I'm also behind a provider's NAT (private IPs with a common public IP). Will tinc work, or it will do as

tinc to create VPN between cluster nodes (at different datacenters) for High Availability
I've not really dug into testing tinc yet, but if you all will humor me in an uneducated blast of questions, I'd appreciate it. What can you do to keep tinc going if your high availability comes from cluster nodes being dispensable? Can tinc run on the cluster nodes? That seems like chicken/egg problem though to get tinc server installed and cluster nodes brought up... If tinc needs to be

Authenticating VPN addresses: a proposal
TL;DR: a proposal for a new tinc feature that allows nodes to filter ADD_SUBNET messages based on the metaconnection on which they are received, so that nodes can't impersonate each other's VPN Subnets. Similar to StrictSubnets in spirit, but way more flexible. BACKGROUND: THE ISSUE OF TRUST IN A TINC NETWORK In terms of metaconnections (I'm not discussing data tunnels here), one of

How to set up an extensible VPN with VirtualBox VMs as nodes
Hello, We have not so tech-savvy colleagues in different locations around the world who now use Windows 10 and need access to Linux (Debian 9). Linux will be provided in form of VirtualBox VMs. We, the technical support team, need to have access to the guest VMs (via SSH and occasionally as remote desktop) and to the host (through the guest while VM runs in bridged mode; via Windows 10 built in

VPN Single Daemon For LAN/WAN
Gus: I guess my primary point of confusion is that the non-vpn LAN ip addresses are duplicated in each cluster. So within a cluster, the LAN addresses are unique. But when you look at 2 clusters, 2 different servers share the 10.99.0.11 address. So that is why I created a VPN for inside the cluster on the LAN interfaces using the private 10.0.1.xx range. THen, I created a separate VPN on the

packet default route
Hi All, I have two queries to be clarified. Any response would be appreciated. 1. If I setup a default route to a particular network to go to the tun device which in turn is picked up by the tinc daemon how does the subsequent UDP/TCP connection made by the tinc daemon to the peer daemon go through the network to the other end and not go to the local tun device again ( by the virtue of the
