Route certain trafic via a tinc node that is not directly connected.
Hello again :)
Thank you all for your reply's. Below are the config files of the 3 hosts.
I use tinc in router mode. I do not have a kernel mode config lines
anywhere so tinc must be using the default settings here.
I added the ipaddressx to subnets on hostc and this works. Traffic to
that ip is now routed via hostc.
But since this ipaddressx address changes often I need to resolve it

Lots of Flushing x bytes to y would block messages
The server has a 1G symmetrical fibre line. It has been speedtested to
various local servers to be close to 800-900M. When there is only a single
client, there isn't much problem and as soon as the connection is made, the
ping time through to tunnel is a respectable 30ms. As soon as a few more
clients are connected, ping time degrades to hundreds and sometimes seconds
and with dropped packets.

ipv6 via tinc
Hi,
At my provider (xs4all) I've got an ipv6 tunnel working. Now I would
like to distribute ipv6 via the tinc tunnel.
My tinc.conf:

PrivateKeyFile=/etc/tinc/fvhglobalnet/rsa_key.priv
GraphDumpFile=|/usr/bin/dot -Tpng -o /var/www/htdocs.keetweej.vanheusden.com/stats/tinc-fvh-network-graph.png

tinc-1.0pre7-i386-1.tgz
Beste tinc-developer,

Multiple Tinc servers HA cross multiple regions
Hi,
I spend some time to investigate tinc to see how use it, Tinc is really
good.
I met some wired issue, maybe some guys can do me a favor.
In my case, there are 3 regions, and 2 servers in each region, total 6
servers.
each of servers will connect the servers in other regions, but no
connection to server in same region in configuration.
Region us-east
Region us-west
Region uk

Missing connection
Hi,
I've set up Tinc in switch-mode on the three nodes "gw", "rb493g" and
"v900w", but the nodes "rb493g" and "w900v" do not connect to each
other.
On each node port 655 is opened with TCP and UDP.
"gw": static IPv4- and IPv6 address listed in the hosts-file "gw"
hosts-files: "gw",

Tinc over 3g problems?
Hello,
I am experiencing some weird problems in a setup with tinc where
communication between the 'server' and the 'clients' occur over 3g
connections.
Let me describe briefly the setup:
- The server, on a public IP, runs tinc 1.0.8, in router mode, and the
whole setup uses one VPN network. All client's VPN addresses are on
the same subnet, and each client has a seperate

Numerous disconections and MaxTimeout appears to be ignored
Hi
I've compiled Tinc 1.0.2 from source but I'm having trouble. Not only am I
having disconnections all the time (could be a network issue however) but even
worse, Tinc is ignoring my MaxTimeout = 60 and is waiting longer and longer
and longer (logfile shows it at 120 seconds). Is this a bug or have i
misconfigured anything?

Error: cannot route packet - please help
Hi,
I?m fighting with a silly problem: my syslog tells me tinc cannot route
a packet. I can use a telnet or the good ol ping, it is the same effect.
When I?m pinging from the laptop (172.16.11.2) the network address
(172.16.11.0) or any address numerically lower than the laptops address,
the packet gets routed, otherwise not. And when I ping the network
address, I get the reply twice, as to be

[PATCH] New '-o' option to configure server or hosts from command line
Options given on the command line have precedence over configuration
from files.
This can be useful, for example, for a roaming node, for which
'ConnectTo' and <host>.Address depends on its location.

This patch is against stable branch. Merging this patch to the 1.1
branch is trivial.
I use this patch on my Debian for several weeks.
Here is the ifupdown script I use (some

tinc: very interesting problem
Guus, or anyone that will help ...
Okay.. I've been running tinc for a few months now, and Its been working
pretty well with my machine. Attempts to install it on others WinXP Pro,
WinXP Home, and WinNT boxes have been spotty at best, with some
installations working perfectly, and some not working at all.
My latest issue is this. My windows 2000 machine can connect perfectly to

Lots of Flushing x bytes to y would block messages
We run tinc in a linux environment in which it sits there waiting for
connections from the clients. All clients are configured to only have one
ConnectTo which points to this server.
We're seeing in the server log that as soon as a client's connection is
activated, a whole bunch of "Flushing x bytes to that host would block" is
logged and the whole vpn is bogged down and has

book on tinc
Hi Ivo and Guus,
We are writing a book on building VPNs for Linux and a part of it describes
tinc. I wanted to make sure that your opinion, as tinc authors and
developers, is reflected.
First, let me ask a couple of technical questions.
1.
If there are two hosts, foo and bar, that are to be connected via tinc, and
each host should only have _one_ IP address (i.e. nmask is /32), would the

Performance issue with TunnelServer mode
Hi,
We have a tinc network of about ~200 hosts and in the full mesh
configuration we've had a lot of problems with the edge propagation storms
taking the entire network down. Recently we had a setup with a small number
of "hubs" to which all the other nodes connected to, which limited the
number of meta connections, but that didn't help much with the edge
propagation issues.
