support for ALIAS records
Hi Christof! AFAIK, PowerDNS is the only open source name server that supports ALIAS. There was an idea to standardize ALIAS as "ANAME" (https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-dnsop-aname/), but the idea was dropped in favor of SVCB/HTTPS record https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/rfc9460/. So now we have to wait until all Browser vendors implement SVCB/HTTPS. Regards Klaus PS: If

Standardization FLAC through IETF
Dear members of the flac-dev list, I'm writing to ask for feedback from the FLAC community regarding the possibility of standardizing the FLAC specification through the Internet Engineering Task Force. I'm working with MediaArea on the PREFORMA project which focuses on building conformance checkers for Matroska and FFV1. Since Matroska and FFV1 are not yet formally standardized, this

support for ALIAS records
While SVCB/HTTPS provides a better solution for the browsing use case, I see other use cases where ALIAS/ANAME would be ideal, notably in apex RRs. So while fostering SVCB/HTTPS deployment is a good thing, I wouldn?t mind name server software implementing ALIAS. Including NSD, but I reckon it?s much more challenging to do due to NSD architecture than it was to implement it in PowerDNS. But if

[Cellar] FLAC Markdown
Hello all! (cc-ing the flac-dev list) I would like to give an update as to the recent CELLAR work on the FLAC specification. • Work has been done to make internal and external links more accurate and reliable. • 'Rice Coding' has been clarified as 'Exponential Golomb Coding.' • Clarifications have been made for binary representation. • Typos and other small changes have been

(Orc)JIT and weak symbol resolution
Hi, This is a question on how to resolve weak symbols from the binary for symbols that are also llvm::Module-local. Currently, the JIT seems to favor resolving to module-local symbols over existing symbols: $ cat symbols.cxx extern "C" int printf(const char*,...); template <class T> struct StaticStuff { static T s_data; }; template <class T> T

RFC8501 IPv6 Wildcard PTR
Per RFC 8501 seciont 2.2 https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc8501 I have attempted to use a wildcard on a /64 boundary within a zonefile for NSD, but it doesn't not appear to work. PTR lookups fail... tested with, ie: $ORIGIN 1.1.0.0.8.5.1.b.2.2.5.2.ip6.arpa. * PTR my.fqdn.net. Did not work... or would you have to use? (not tested) *.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.* PTR .... --

Would it be possible to get that

Channel Mapping Family for Ambisonics
Hello Tim and others, Thanks for your help explaining this process on IRC. I wrote out a first draft in the RFC xml format. I have attached the xml (labeled as xml.txt so it will appear inline) and the rendered txt files. Please let me know where I can make improvements. I will upload this draft to the IETF datatracker and send it out to codec@ after addressing your comments. -------------- next

Maybe this will make it to the FAQ :-)
Hi Arjen, I've just read the FAQ and got to the question: "Q: How can I make upsmon shut down my system after some fixed interval?" Well it looked like the question was there for me. :-) You say: Ask yourself this: why buy a nice big UPS with the matching battery and corresponding runtime and then shutdown early? If anything, I'd rather have a few more minutes running on
