Do we know the size of biggest deployment(site-site and client-site) which
is tinc based VPN?
Or it is just used in toy projects at schools to learn something about VPN?

Tunneling public ips, proxy arp, tinc config
Hi,
I have a question. I have a routeable /24 netblock including a server at a
colocation and I would like to use tincd to tunnel part of that netblock to
an internal network on another location being connected to the internet via
gateway with DSL link and a single static IP address, so I can use public
routable IP addresses on the local network.
I have tincd 1.0 pre7 installed on both the local

Tinc on PFSENSE box can join mesh, share keys, connect out, but doesn't reply to pings or connections
I've tried IRC in #tinc and #pfsense on freenode for this, not luck yet,
figured I'd try the mailing list.
A summary of my problem is here:

If there are any details I can provide that would help I'll be more than
happy to.
I'm hoping it will be something obvious that someone can say

Any way to run tinc on MikroTik routers?
Hello,
Please excuse my (probably newbie) question, but:
Since RouterOS, MikroTik's proprietary OS, is largely based on GNU/Linux,
anyone knows a way to run tinc on a MikroTik device?
This would be in order to make an (imposed, no choice given...) MikroTik
device (say the B1100AHX4 router) to participate in a tinc mesh, in
interoperation with GNU/Linux machines.

tinc disconnects
Hi,
I am trying tinc using the versions found in ubuntu bionic and debian stretch.
To begin, I am trying to get two test machines, both of which are on the same
subnet in the same office, in a vpn with tinc.
Unfortunately, I am encountering issues. Tinc seems to start properly, but every
few hours it disconnects.
The following happens:
In the system log of host A I get:

config help & pid file not existing issue
Hi Parke,
Thanks for replying. I mkdir it, kill tinc and restart, nothing in config
changed, and it works!
I don't know what's behind but I should've try system "kill" rather than
tinc's stop/restart stuff...

tinc 1.1pre. How to automatically start vpn tunnels? How to change the installation/config path to the same as tinc 1.0.x version from ubuntu repository?
Hi!
I have compiled and installed tinc 1.1pre5 on a ubuntu machine.
With the tinc 1.0.x version that is included in the ubuntu repository I am used to having the config files in /etc/tinc/ and where each vpn has a own directory.
The file nets.boot placed in /etc/tinc where I can specify which vpn tunnels that is going to start automatically.
How can I get the vpn tunnels to start automatically

Securing tinc config files
Thanks Guus
So based of this , having your central tinc server in VPS Provider , will
allow potentially the provider to replicate your config files and thus
exposing all your remote sites connected. My situation I face is all my
remote sites have dynamic addresses ,and in order for me to create a
connection point between the sites is to have a central server in cloud
with public address. Therefor

Does the INT signal will force the tinc to re-read the tinc.conf file
I mean, if I changed pingtimeout on tinc.conf, -kHUP will force the tinc to re-read that parameter into effective? If no, any other ways to make it effective other that kill the process?
for tinc 1.0.

"Name" directive in tinc.conf
Hello,
According to http://tinc-vpn.org/documentation/tinc_4.html:
,----
| Name = <name> [required]
| | This is a symbolic name for this connection. The name should consist

However, if I set an arbitrary name, I get
# tincd -D -n hbt -d

Securing tinc config files
Hi
I hope this was not asked before. What methods can be used to secure the
"tinc" config files? If for example using a VPS provider like digital ocean
, how can one be sure that the local admins dont access your container and
read the contents of the tinc config files? Is there a better solution ,
should full drive encryption be used and dedicated servers?

Keep connectivity in Tinc VPN alive!
I have a simple 3 hosts virtual network setup with tinc vpn. Three hosts
are using ips as A-10.0.0.1, B-10.0.0.2, and C-10.0.0.3.
All 3 hosts(A,B,C) are in three different networks. B and C uses
"ConnectTo" in their tinc.conf to connect to A's external IP. After all the
setups are done, such as key exchanges etc, and start the tinc daemon on
all hosts, the connections among the 3

[SOLVED] Re: TINC config files layout not human or script friendly
Hello Tinc users & Guss:
I was sleeping last night and I figured out how to accomplish everything
I ranted about below with no source code changes to TINC.
The first thing to do is create TEMPLATES for tinc.conf, tinc-up, and
the NODE files.
Then during the startup script, use the linux cp command and sed to copy
the template to the correct name and sed to text replace
