Tinc 1.1 release
Hi Paul,
I've been using various 1.1pre versions on Windows, Linux, and Freetz (embedded OS for routers, similar to OpenWRT) for years, and I can't complain.
The tinc 1.1 branch is pretty stable and that's where the majority of development happens.
Why do you want to wait for an official release?
Regards,
Daniel

Feedback about OpenWrt and Tinc version to be packaged.
Hello,
I received this pull request.
https://github.com/openwrt/packages/pull/2757/files
As I wrote in the comments I am not sure that is the way to go.
Packaging a software for a distribution is not just about software
development. There are operational issues to be addressed.
A lot of people use the tinc package and they expect they configs to
survive a package update. Also they expect the

Hi Guus,
I've attached something like a commit message (I think).
Sorry, but I am not familiar with git and currently familiarizing with it.
In the meantime, I fixed some code and introduced a compatibility wrapper to
allow porting tinc to "Fritz!Box" (using Freetz http://trac.freetz.org/).
The file is called ifaddr-compat.h/c and wraps the function "getifaddrs".

Hi Guus, hi all,
please find attached a proposed feature implementation for tinc.
As mentioned in http://www.tinc-vpn.org/pipermail/tinc/2010-May/002344.html
, my goal was to connect nodes on the same LAN using their local (LAN)
endpoints.
I've implemented a multicast sender, which announces its own endpoint on
every connected interface regularly.

Hi everyone,
you can find the current version of my enhanced tinc using subversion:
svn://tardyon.mon-clan.de/tinc
I allowed anonymous read access, so feel free to download the sources.
Unfortunately, my enhancements are based on a rather old git-checkout from
Guus.
The version should run under windows and Debian/Ubuntu.
Best,
Daniel

Tinc and OpenWRT
Greetings.
I'm new to tinc, but have so far managed to get a couple laptops and a
hosted server all connected. They're working as expected, running
Tinc 1.1-pre11, which I compiled from source.
Next I want to move on to adding my home router into the mix. My
routers run OpenWRT. I don't have experience compiling anything from
source for OpenWRT, but OpenWRT has Tinc 1.0.25

Ok. I think I'll start with the 1.0 series packages that are already
out there and get them working.

Tinc and OpenWRT
Hey Saverio,
I'd really like the idea of a tinc-1.1-pre package for OpenWRT. I'm
currently using tinc-1.1 with an Ed25519-only network, really like the
new features and CLI and want to add some OpenWRT routers into the mix.
How do you plan to handle things with OpenSSL?
tinc-1.1 from git should be able to compile without it (but will then
only support the built-in algorithms). Depending

But didn't one of your earlier mails say that tun did not appear in your
lsmod output?
If the module is there but not loaded, why don't you just "insmod" it?
I am confused.
Sorry, I can't help further. I have told

You can find tinc package in openwrt repo and install it with opkg or luci.
I suggest you first run couple of tinc nodes on x86, just to understand how it works.

Forget about tinc. I won't work until you solve issue with your kernel.
