[PATCH 2/2] setup_outgoing_connection: log to LOG_DEBUG on if no known address
With AutoConnect = yes, tinc tries to establish connections to known hosts. However, you could have set no Address for this host, which is perfectly fine (as long as there is at least one bootstrap node with an address or a local discovered node already part of the network) So log this to LOG_DEBUG --- src/net_socket.c | 2 +- 1 file changed, 1 insertion(+), 1 deletion(-) diff --git

Dev: new option to mark all tincd socket of a tincd process
I know i'm new to the list but i'd like to propose something for tincd daemon. I'd like to mark all sockets established by a tincd process with a mark passed as an argument in the command line. What could be the purpose of this new option? The goal of this option is to be able to have several tincd process running at the same time using the same port but using different ip. In

Windows TAP driver issues
Thanks for the info, that is very helpful. It does look like that change got back-ported to master, albeit in a different form. I'll take a look at how OpenVPN does its windows device I/O. - todd

SegFault when using TunnelServer=yes
Hi all, I have a network with about ~800. The network is a mix of tinc 1.0 and 1.1 nodes. It is gradually expanding for several years now. The problem is that at some point it seams the daemon can not handle the processing of the new connection and the edges. There are 3 major nodes in the system and every other node initially makes connection to one of them. Now after a lot of debugging

SegFault when using TunnelServer=yes
Hi, thank for getting back. I'll answer the questions, but I've already gave up on tinc and switch to zerotier-one. On 2020-07-27 5:10 p.m., borg at uu3.net wrote: > Hi. Stuck with dovecot-sieve and horde-ingo ...
Hello, dovecot-users ... as you may read at http://lists.horde.org/archives/horde/Week-of-Mon-20090706/037786.html I am stuck getting dovecot-sieve working with the ingo-application of the horde-framework. To me it seems as if ingo doesn't even trigger any request/command to managesieve ... I set "mail_debug=yes" in the managesieve-section of dovecot.conf but don't see any

[PATCH] Receive multiple packets at a time
Hello, Linux has a recvmmsg() system call which allows to achieve several recvfrom() at a time. The patch below makes tinc use it (patch against 1.1-pre11). Basically the patch turns the handle_incoming_vpn_data variables into arrays (of size 1 when recvmmsg is not available, and thus compiled the same as before), and makes the code index into the arrays. You may want to use interdiff -w

tinc exit when there is no internet?
Something to add. When this happened, it looks like tinc shutdown gracefully(not seg fault ..), because I can tell tinc-down script got implemented. tinc exit when there is no internet?
Thanks for the reply. I am running tinc (1.0.24) in an embedded linux environment, with a pretty old kernel (2.6). I have let tinc run for almost 24 hours with internet and can't reproduce the issue. [PATCH] Receive multiple packets at a time
Oh, goodie! I'd made a start on the send direction here: https://github.com/dtaht/tinc/commits/master Perhaps that will help. I would not just pull that as it was just some late night hacking... and it turns out the posix time calls I upgraded to to get better than second resolution are not supported on OSX. My ultimate intent was to move to not bottlenecking or dropping packets on the

tinc 1.1: missing PONG
Here's a diff to call WSAWaitForMultipleEvents() repeatedly to check for events other than the first one returned. I've also added a map of io_t to events[] index so avoid the need for splay_search(). The value of event_count will change if a callback adds an event so we need to handle that. I've added a generation number to the splay tree head that gets incremented by io_del().

Suspicious code in net_socket.c
For my opinion, special function not needed, because at first time, oai set to NULL, freeaddrinfo tried to free each ai, until occurance of ai_next == NULL. But it works. Linux, Windows, coordinator with white IP, other nodes behind NAT's (1 or two NAT's, only direct connections allowed). There are some problems with MinGW make, at least - mingw-64 from Fedora 25. 1. Problem compiling tinc-1.0.8 on gcc-2.95
Hello. I found that anonymous structures does not work on gcc-2.95. If you guys want to support a bit older platforms I suggest fixing it. You can check out patch I created to fix this issue. I just added 2 extra structures to remove anonymous structs inside connection_status_t and node_status_t. Patch is here: ftp://borg.uu3.net/pub/unix/tinc/tinc.patch Attaching it as well. SegFault when using TunnelServer=yes
Hi. I have few questions out of curiosity.. Cant help for now with your problem... What version is crashing? 1.1 or 1.0 ? How your network is segmented..? I use tinc myself here a lot too (1.0) but my network is very segmented. I use switch mode and handle routing myself, so mesh links arent large.. I would NOT go beyond 30 nodes for full auto-mesh.. its already like 435 edges... Regards,

Authenticating VPN addresses: a proposal
TL;DR: a proposal for a new tinc feature that allows nodes to filter ADD_SUBNET messages based on the metaconnection on which they are received, so that nodes can't impersonate each other's VPN Subnets. Similar to StrictSubnets in spirit, but way more flexible. BACKGROUND: THE ISSUE OF TRUST IN A TINC NETWORK In terms of metaconnections (I'm not discussing data tunnels here), one of

SegFault when using TunnelServer=yes
Thanks for answers. I think its now flaw.. but design.. Tinc auto-mesh is very very handy. You just need to avoid flat networks. There is also IndirectMode w/ forces nodes to be switched by intermediate node... but I would be cautionus how its used. I use it myself for certain nodes behind NATs where they cannot be connected to, so always connect node handles switching for them. You noticed it
