FW: 2 tinc questions
dear tinc member 1. I am having some trouble running tinc on an older Xp node. When I run the "tincd -n VPN -K" command, it tells me that it cant find the file ( see attached screenshot )' Seems like it messes up the / and \ directory symbols. 2. How would you compare the remobo and tinc services ? Remobo surely is less secure and requires direct access to a server, but a lot more

Hamachi with Asterisk
Hi, I wanted to know if anyone had tried to use hamachi with Asterisk. I am trying to connect remote extensions (XLite softphone on winxp with hamachi) to my asterisk pbx. I had installed hamachi on my asterisk pbx (Asterisk @ Home 2.2). The boxes are able to see each other through hamachi. But somehow I couldn't establish a call with a remote extension. But I am able to talk to an

After trying to install Tunngle on Wine I came upon this error: _______________________ unable to execute file: netsh CreateProcess failed; code 2. File not found _______________________ I have scoured the internet for a fix for this problem to no avail. It seems it isn't just the program I'm using, it's a fairly common(ish) problem. The closest I came was with this forum here:

4 questions about tinc's VPN
Hi there! I'm totally new to the concept 'self-made VPNs' :P I've discovered tinc and I think it's not as easy as hamachi, but not so hard as OpenVPN :D Now: I've got 4 questions: question n.1: I'm behind a router. This router is configurable, but I'm also behind a provider's NAT (private IPs with a common public IP). Will tinc work, or it will do as

Hamachi annoyances
Hi all, Got a very frustrating problem here, I've been trying to use hamachi to play a few games over it's virtual lan connection. With all the games in question, be they native or run via wine, they all seem to not be able to pick up on the hamachi network. My /etc/hosts file has the following entries. 5.86.189.163 sirbubbles-desktop 127.0.0.1 localhost 127.0.1.1 sirbubbles-desktop I

C&C Red Alert 3 - Lan (and also hamachi) play
Hello to all I've been playing Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3 (LEGAL version of the game) with wine and it has been working very well. However, I decided to try and play LAN (linux-to-linux) and did not manage to do it. There was a time where I could see my name twice on the list (should see once) plus my other pc's name. So this meant that: PC A Sees PC A TWICE and PC B ONCE PC B

Re: C&C Red Alert 3 - Lan (and also hamachi) play
You can try this, or check multiple solutions on the bug report URL I posted here. Lan play seems to be different from online play and you might have luck. With hamachi, however, no matter what I do it'll always fail.

WINDOWS - Set up and ping problems
Hi everyone, A few days ago I started reading about TINC and it really got me going because my intention is to set up a network connection between two computers (Windows). The reason for that is a program which is running within a network quite well but now I would like to have a laptop to be mobile. The program however should still be able to connect to the database in the office and it has no

Windows Firewall, network discovery
A couple of weeks ago, I asked for help with getting tinc to work with a couple of issues. I prioritize my hobby projects below essential things, and I'm a bit scatterbrained when there's an internet connection, so it took awhile before I finished trying the things you suggested, and got to a point where I was stuck again. Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions! I set

Tinc for gaming
Hi, We are trying to set up tinc for playing lan games over the internet. The three of us are running tinc, can ping each other and browse shared folders. yes, windows :| However we cannot connect because we don't show up in the game lobby. The games usually require udp ports to be open, but I think these are all open once we establish the tinc tunnel. Also, testing with all computers in

This is what I want to do...
I want to set up a test system at my house using a FXO card (one of the X100P cards) and a FXS device. I am going to have the one line running into the machine and the house phones running off of the FXS port. I will be installing a softphone on my laptop and will be using Hamachi to tunnel back to my Asterisk machine while I am out and about. This way, I can leave my firewall intact and still
