How to move/reorganise existing e-mails to yearly subfolders
What is the problem with having huge online mailboxes? Just choose a good european provider that has encryption all the way through to their storage platform. I had exactly the same idea about migrating. You have to think twice about moving emails around of users. They do not like it ;) I have created an 'archive' environment on a distributed filesystem, and it takes me quite a lot

POP3 and mail retention
Using outlook 2010 as mail client, I have noticed that once an email is moved from inbox, it is deleted from the cur/ directory on the server. Is there a pop3 setting on dovecot that would keep emails, with possible retention period, and recognize that this email has been moved from inbox, etc.. If all of this is doable, would setting outlook to delete the email after 14 days work? delete email

Renamed files and directories
What is the current status of both rename-patches ? Are there alternative measures ? Frequently users reorganise directories and files. Recently a directory of 40GB was renamed... It took 3 weeks to re-copy all over an ADSL-link. I have followed the last couple of years the postings, and realise it is not as easy as it seems. But the users do not understand this at all 8-( Thanks, Nico

DHCP failover ... Some questions.
Hi, I plan to reorganise our IP management and I'd like to implement a slave DHCP server. Right now we assign IP addresses based on the ethernetadress of a client 1:1. The tutorial here [1] is simple and looks like the thing I need. I do have a lot of subnetworks and my cisco router has an DHCP helper address set. I know I'll have to add the second dhcp-server address. My questions now

Packages/functions for competing risk analysis
Hi Rs, I am analyzing a time to event dataset with several competing risks. 0 = Active by end of study 1 = Stopped treatment to start another treatment 2 = Lost 3 = Dead My event of interest in Lost to Followup but starting a different treatment and dying are competing risks. All 1,2,3 events are events of exiting the study, but it's only 2-LTFU that we are concerned with (I know I am

Rails Plugins: How to copy artefacts to the public directory during install? When is install.rb executed anyway?
Hi, I want to write a plugin that uses JavaScript and I am wondering how to put the static content, i.e. the JavaScript, in place? I read the documentation I found ( http://wiki.rubyonrails.org/rails/pages/Plugins and links) and looked at the listed plugins. One thing I found was that subversion seems to be a prerequisite for providing or even installing plugins. Is that right? The other thing

Samba backup script retention question
Hello, I'm using the 'samba_backup' script with the self compiled version. I noticed the retention period not being applied to etc and sysvol tar.bz2 files. Looking at the script it appears to only list the following at the end 'find $WHERE -name "samba4_*bz2" -mtime +$DAYS -exec rm {} \;' Can I also include the etc and sysvol tars in the command? Any

R Kaplan-Meier plotting quirks?
Hello. I apologize in advance for the VERY lengthy e-mail. I endeavor to include enough detail. I have a question about survival curves I have been battling off and on for a few months. No one local seems to be able to help, so I turn here. The issue seems to either be how R calculates Kaplan-Meier Plots, or something with the underlying statistic itself that I am misunderstanding. Basically,

Automatically deleting Trash a la Courier
Timo Sirainen writes: > #expire = Trash 7 Spam 30 Does the above mean one will be able to indicate multiple folders to expire? That is great! Any thoughts on having a per mailbox setting? For ISPs , one may want to give users the option to enable/disable the feature and perhaps give them a choice of dates.. ie Trash 7 days or 30 days. Spam 1 day or 7 days.

Kaplan-Meier plotting quirks
Better would be to use interval censored data. Create your data set so that you have (time1, time2) pairs, each of which describes the interval of time over which the tag was lost. So an animal first captured at time 10 sans tag would be (0,10); with tag at 5 and without at 20 would be (5,20), and last seen with tag at 30 would be (30, NA). Then survit(Surv(time1, time2,

Q: Suggestions for long-term data/program storage policy?
Dear list, we are a statistical/epidemiological departement that - after a few years of rapid growth - finally is getting around to formulate a general data storage and retention policy - mainly to ensure that we can reproduce results from published papers/theses easier in the future, but also with the hope that we get more synergy between related projects. We have formulated what we

Setting retention policies
I access e-mail from different PCs, typically using Thunderbird e-mail client. Thunderbird has a a "retention policy" it can set on a folder by folder basis. Policies such as how long to keep messages for, or how many messages to keep. Is there a way to set those policies on the server itself? Thank you

[LLVMdev] vmkit java annotations
Hello everyone, I am able to work very well with annotations in C/C++, by using __attribute__((annotate("MYANNOTATION"))) static int a; . Inside the LLVM bytecode I have @llvm.global.annotations and @llvm.var.annotation. However, I was trying to test annotations also in Java, with VMKit. These are the commands that I run: javac -Xlint -g -O Main.java ../Release+Asserts/bin/vmjc Main
