Migration from one server to 2 new servers
I seem to recall a post a while back where, due to the age of the remote end, the remote side command had to be entered in the command executed on the local side. Do you have dsync on the 2.0.9 machine? > On Jul 27, 2020, at 4:16 PM, Kishore Potnuru <kishore.reachme at gmail.com> wrote: > > This is what my understanding. Fair enough but the command snippet I posted was taken directly from your earlier post dated Mon Jul 27 23:11:06 EEST 2020 and it does say ?production1??I just double-checked as well... FWIW?the server order in the command you just pasted is the exact reverse from the Jul 27th post I mentioned above? Here you appear to be exec?ing the command on prod2 and trying to pull from the remote of prod

Migration from one server to 2 new servers
Hi! Kishore, you got the command wrong.. `doveadm backup -R -u username-goes-here imapc:` for this to work, you need to configure following things: imapc_host = old-host-name imapc_password = master-password imapc_master_user = master-user-name and on the old host you need passdb { args = /etc/dovecot/passwd.masterusers driver = passwd-file master = yes pass = yes } This should

Not sure if this matters but the prompt when attempting the ?doveadm backup? command shows it to be a ?production" server? Client shows incorrect message counts
Hello all? First, a disclaimer?I am aware that this is very likely not a Dovecot related issue but I am truly pulling whatever hair I have left out of my head and given the brain-power of this mailer, I thought someone might know what is going in here. The issues is this? I check the message counts for a given account using doveadm and get a given number. I then configure the same account in 3

Static users and doveadm
Hello Dovecot users? I wanted to ask is using a static userdb will cause issues with some of the account and user related doveadm commands? If so, any suggestions on how to use doveadm in such a configuration? I have pasted both the cmd + error and userdb config below ? Thanks in advance? sudo doveadm mailbox list -A Error: auth-master: userdb list: User listing returned failure doveadm:

Best way to move mail from one server to another
I?d like to migrate to a new server. I only need to transfer the mail store, have already done the users. I?ve seen different recommendations: IMAP-Sync Rsync Doveadmin backup and dsync What are the pros and cons of each? What would be best for me? I?m thinking that Doveadmin backup is the way to go. Both old and new servers are on same network. New server is running Dovecot 2.3.2.1, old server

Running doveadm without config file?
It would be useful to run the "doveadm" utility on a non-dovecot server e.g. generating password hashes: # echo plaintextpass | doveadm pw -s BLF-CRYPT doveadm(user): Fatal: Error reading configuration: stat(/etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf) failed: No such file or directory Is there a way to circumvent the need for a configuration file?
